I have an 85 Ex-UK TR (all Aussie cars were imported, usually from the UK). I installed a mid volume Tube 5 years ago when the baffles in the original packed up. It is perfect, no drone and makes the right sounds (very subjective experience though).

Let us know which way you go and show some photos.

If you spend 10k on a 90k car for exhaust something is out of line. Especially plenty of awesome pipes for 3k out there. 500k exotic, maybe and yet you may be in the department of more money than sense.

I don't think that's a fair opinion. It's just as reasonable as paying the dealership to do your clutch, putting in 5 grand of audio equipment, getting a ceramic coating on your paint even though it's a garage queen, upgrading the brakes even though you'll never track it.

If an exhaust is almost bespoke it should cost more. I am sure the development costs are high. I'm sure they did the computational fluid dynamics and tuned the exhaust.

Very doubtful. Opinions vary so Nat and you have your opinions. It does not even compare to having the dealer do your clutch and ceramic coatings are the biggest snake oil gimmicks I have seen. But hey, they know pretty much how people think and that is what makes them rich and the buyer a little poorer for falling for it.

ceramic coatings are ultimate price gouging. It's a 20min job after a six hour detail/paint correction. Anyone who charges thousands for ceramic coating is ripping you off.

And they never last. After a few years tiny rust specks start coming through.

I maintain and detail the paint of my car on my own, been a hobby of mine for nearly 20 years. I haven't started to use ceramics yet but if I did I would just do it once per year. The thing is the sealants I use work so well that I've never needed to. I also always do a proper corrective job on my paint as the last thing prior to storing it for winter under a cover so my paint stays very fresh.

I have a US car and put test pipes for both pre and main cats. I believe your euro car has no cats.
I just put in a competition Tubi (loud). The car absolute screams now. I too was concerned it would drone but thankfully it doesn’t at all. Driving around at lower rpm it’s like any other car. After 4K it gets progressively louder untill it’s absolutely Screaming at 6500k. I took a vid from the back of the car but it just doesn’t translate well. You can tell it’s loud but not really how much.

I did put a decibel meter ( IPhone app so maybe not totally accurate) at the tail pipe and at a full rev it’s 125db but doesn’t sound that loud from within the car.

Im sure there isn’t any significant HP increase. But mentally I feel like I’m ripping through the Monaco tunnel every time I nail it. That’s definitely has some value. Lol

I bought the exhaust from Eurospares. Prior to installing it I had changed my kind and was considering putting in a Capristo. Reluctantly I ended up installing it and I am absolutely thrilled with the sound.
I think most agree that a tubi on a tr always sounds good. For a lot more money you may get a slightly better pitch etc. but the best value for the sound is likely a tubi.

Keep in mind that there are different levels of volumes of exhausts within a brand. Just because someone says they have a tubi you need to ask a lot more questions. Which one specifically? Is your car euro or us? Do you have test pipes? Pre cat and main cat etc. when people post vids about their exhaust they only tell a small part of the story.

Euro cars seem to always sound a lot better than us cars. Almost every video on YouTube for exhaust sounds are euro cars.

Agreed- I order often from eurospares they are great. They also have deals with Tubi and their rates are much better than the tubi rep on this chat EVEN with import duties.

Great thread! Happy to see up to date discussion for TR exhausts, as I am considering for my 89 U.S. Testarossa.

Kreissieg seems like a unicorn. I wish there was a detailed thread about the ordering, installation, etc on a Testarossa. The YouTube vids certainly are impressive and very tempting. On the other hand, I have a Lexus LFA, so I get my F1 scream fix already.

Otherwise, I am leaning towards the Fuchs for the Testarossa, but I know nothing about that product, either. Everybody seems to recommend Capristo or X-OST, or Tubi if the budget allows.

Test pipes must be insanely loud. Not sure I want to go that far.

Hi, I put a deposit down on a Testarossa today, with a Ferrari specialist. They are going to carry out a full service on the car too, and they said they will fit a new exhaust on it for me too, if I get it delivered to them.

I have spent the last 2 weeks listing to various different exhausts. I want something that is very high pitched, instead of a growl / drone.

The Kressieg seems to be very high pitched, but also very expensive.

Can anyone else recommend another exhaust that is high pitched?

if this is what you want, your choice is a Kreissieg for five figures or Furches custom exhaust like mine for much less.

    Wow, the Furches sounds AMAZING.

However, I can only find YouTube clips from one person -

Can you provide anymore information on these?

I’m the only one with one so far but a couple more are in the works. Although I just saw you're in Ireland so it unfortunately wont be possible. He builds to suit from his shop in Massachusetts, US.

Amazing... it's the best sounding Testarossa that I've hear.

Do you have any further details on when he will be open to more orders?
