Does anyone know anything about the history of s/n 7427?

It's currently for sale at $225,000. It's a rosso chiaro/nero NART spider rebody on (supposedly) a 275 GTS.

I'd really appreciate any information anyone has, or can find, on this car.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Not much history at the following site save the fact that the SN was at one time assigned to a 275 GTS

Nearly 16 year old question, but were you sure about that chassis number? I don't think 275 GTS 07427, which as just been sold at auction, (see link here) has ever been rebodied with a NART Spider style body.

I'm confident on the serial number, but not that it was ever a NART spider.

I should have begged, borrowed or somehow stolen the money to buy it in 2004!

It looks better in its current livery. I don't remember seeing a hard top on a 275 GTS.

Which is missing the horizontal lines on Dave Letterman's 7427. They're different.

    What was original?

I still kick myself for not buying s/n 7287 when it was offered, with a poor interior, for something just above $100k.

    Sophia Loren sat there...

Here is 365 GTS 12163 with a (ill fitting or not properly secured?) hard top with the horizontal lines. Although they are very rare, could it be that it was the 330 GTS and 365 GTS that generally had the hard tops with the horizontal lines?

07287 was never owned by Sophia Loren, nor by her husband Carlo Ponti nor by a movie company in Rome.
The fifth Italian owner was a Mr. Ponti in Como but that man has no relation to Carlo Ponti (Loren's husband).
All the rest is pure sales fantasy.

    No.
It is from a much earlier 275 GTS.

But it was owned by Susy Raganelli who was the only female to have ever won the World Karting Championship, which she did in emphatic style against some future F1 stars, not least of whom was Ronnie Peterson. I believe she also owned an Alfa Type 33 Stradale chassis #105

Apparently her father was a major car dealer. A lady WKC and ahead of Ronnie wow fantastic, never heard of her and yes there was an Alfa 33 Stradale in the mix:

Interesting. It was very clearly presented that way in 2003 or 2004.

Like the supposed Frank Sinatra Lamborghini Miura.

Even Christie's got conned and sold it in a NYC auction as being his car...but in fact it was a doctor Sinatra and everyone got conned, it happens to the best of them.

In 2007 in Sant'Agata Bolognese's village square thanks to Valentino Balboni I personally interviewed, for a certain book, Ingrid Pussich who was management secretary at Lambo in those days. The Sinatra story she said? It is all a lie we still have the letter from Doctor Sinatra in the archives.

When a few years later at Retromobile I told the ex Christie's man who had been in charge in NYC his eyes went really big....

Such myths are not uncommon when it comes to sell a car. Two decades ago I was once going to do an article on a certain Ferrari supposedly owned by a certain sex symbol movie superstar of her day...but the owner said Marc you are going to pop the bubble on that one (she in fact never owned it) so I am sorry but I would rather you did not do the article...but he let me drive other major cars for articles well before that so I was happy:)!
