Car is in slumber. Too cold, snowy etc. not familiar with road force balancing but now anything more then careful balancing would be overkill IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Update 2016 I feel it is important to add a little more information regarding the handling impression of my car. To review I have updated sway bars front and rear. Also new bushes all around, rebuilt shocks to OEM specs and the "faster ratio" steering rack. I still had some issues after replacing the aftermarket wheels with 16" Cromos. I'm super happy to revise my previous statements after Martin (fellow fchatter) suggested a fix often overlooked. Rather then duplicating efforts I'm going to add this link for the "rest of the story" Steering woes and wow! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=518167 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for bringing this thread back up...I just went back through it...Paul Newman is an amazing perfectionist. Just amazing.
Just went back through it myself. I actually printed out pictures and all the whole thread and have it in a binder. It will stay with the car. I take her out from time to time and it’s always great. I also had completely new motors and cables and gearbox replaced in both doors so windows are really fast now as well. Done while new carpet and door cards were replaced.
Well Sir, Hard to believe I / we did this!! For those interested in this build, It's life will continue in the Atlanta GA area. Thank you to Crowndog for passing on the torch to me. I hope to have some good times in this car. Life for this 308 continues here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/first-ferrari-first-308qv-what-did-i-do.625931/#post-147347691
Thank you Mike! You might ask David about the other set of fog lights you wanted. He got my parts inventory as well.
If that were the only swap, all else being the same (injection system and all), what is the typical gains?? Obviously this car had more done with different pistons and injection system ( Can't remember if these were stock cams or not... ? )
In addition larger valves, higher compression ratio, flow increased by porting and opening up the stacks in the plenum. The list goes on.
I’ve followed this thread for years. What an amazing opportunity for the new owner to get a 308 improved and refined to this extent. Pure mechanical and driving pleasure. Newman is one the few guys who really inspires me.
I definitely feel blessed to have taken ownership of it for sure. Went out for a good long drive tonight with a good friend that loves these things too. He's so jealous. lol
Yea I somehow missed this thread - got to the party late. So I'm going through and downloading all of the pictures just as a good photo reference as to how everything is screwed together. Great resource!
Wow! I'm very surprised the previous owner sold it. I saw the car just last year at Paul's house getting some touch ups done. Very cool build, enjoy it!
Can I ask how you got the front head off? I have the exact same problem. Front head is raised about 1/4" seems to be hung up on one stud. I have tried Kroil, and hanging from the front head for a week. I am out of ideas. Thanks Jeff
