Looking for guidance from 308 owners. Some front turn signal lenses have split amber/white and others are full amber, yet they seem to otherwise be precisely the same. Can someone explain why the lenses are different and if the housing units are different in any way? For the record, the newly manufactured housings are silver (see below) where the originals from Carello, and later Altissimo; were black. Thank you.

All amber in the US. Amber & clear in UK. These lenses were also used by other manufacturers and may explain chrome vs black but not sure on that one. I’ve only seen black.

That’s a Swiss thing if I’m not mistaken... but I believe it was even more of an early car thing too.

Not entirely sure though... can anyone help me out?

My 1977 Fibreglass has the amber/white indicators with black housing. The rest of the info'is what I have heard in the past.
Eurospares replacement is, unfortunately, only available with a chrome housing.

that would make sense then as the car was imported from Switzerland.

My question, more specifically - is the Carello housing the same (dimensions, etc.) regardless of the lens color and layout?

It's two different lamps of course and the barrier between the sockets.

I would have to look but the older ones had reflectors behind the bulbs, which of course could be deleted by plastic chroming to whole thing.
Be sure to use the smaller round lamp, in the "run" side, as an 1157 jammed in there will melt the lens!

Of course led lamps could be used and give off little heat. But only for the running lights. If used for blinkers you need to do all of them and replace the blinker relay.

What he's saying is when you have a black housing you need a separate part (are there two? one for each bulb?) that acts as a reflector behind the bulb to reflect the light to the front of the housing/lens. When you chrome the whole dang thing then the housing is already shiny, and as a manufacturer you have one less part to make and install for lower product cost.

The small running light side takes a small low wattage bulb. Unfortunately bigger bulbs will fit and the hot glass bulb is so close to the lens that when run it will melt the plastic lens deforming it. I received one of my cars with exactly this condition.

Thanks for the BigTex translation I have one of the smaller bulbs in my door pocket I should have been specific.

It's a lazy day and it's under the cover.
Trying to train my body back onto the Ducati instead.
