Here you go for sharing. MAF/ Mass Air Flow Sensor / Air Flow Meter: As our F430 ages, its only a matter of time before the MAF's go bad. They either go bad due to contamination of the sensors (dirt, oil, grease, etc.) providing inaccurate data to the engine ECU or simply the sensors wear out nearing the end of its usable life due to age. Most common symptoms are hunting idle issues. Ferrari Part Number: 181120 Bosch Part Number of the entire MAF: 0 280 218 085. MAF sensor insert only part number is: F 00C 2G2 044 The entire MAF including the housing ( Ferrari part number 181120) is currently at $323.00 ea. Need two. Same part used on 575M, 612, Challenge Stradale, F430 Coupe and F430 Spider. Note that Ferrari 360 uses a different MAF part number. Some notes: If there is nothing wrong with the plastic housing you can replace just the sensor inserts only Bosch Part Number: F 00C 2G2 044. The challenge is to find a seller that sells the inserts only. My experience with MAF's is to not buy generic ones as simply put they are not made very well, they wont last very long and the value tolerance are not that tight that it can provide inaccurate values to the engine ECU so my vote is to not waste your time on those. Here are some photos for sharing. If someone was able to find a source for a genuine BOSCH insert only for a great price kindly share. MAF housing very very rarely go bad. I've never seen one cracked so it's usually just the insert that needs to be replaced. Another note: MAF insert is very easy to replace as its only held by two screws. You will need special 5 point star bit as shown on photo below. You can find the bits either at Amazon or eBay. One more note: You will see some preowned MAF's for sale in eBay. I recommend you pass on those as well as its simply put, they are old and they wont last very long. Thanks in advance. And at the same time if someone has source for the BOSCH MAF at a great price kindly share info too please. Thanks. Dan
Here's the 5 Point Star bit you will need to replace just the inserts: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007SOODHC/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_fEOJCbJXEX15E Dan
The Bosch MAF is being offered by a UK seller on Ebay for $209 delivered: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOSCH-AIR-MASS-SENSOR-0280218085/302809794317?epid=250822755&hash=item4680dec70d:gYcAAOSwRgdbTy5U Their buyer feedback is less than stellar though, but Ebay does guarantee refunds if there is a problem. Agree sensor would be the least costly option, but Bosch doesn't sell the sensor only in many cases. Maybe it can be found...All the ones I see on Ebay are either used or non factory reproductions.
Also, if anyone has a Northern Tool & Equipment close by, they stock the Pentalobe socket set (10-55)...at least they do where I'm at in SE Texas
Why? ECU constantly learns. Only consideration is erasing error codes if they exist and adaptive strategy is reset on error code erasure. Never a need to relearn on any component replacement. The system never stops doing it.
I believe Bosch only sells to authorized Bosch component rebuilding facilities. Any insert seen for sale will be a knock off, probably of Chinese origin.
No idea, was reading it on aldous voice regarding the 360 maf. "Don’t forget to reset the ECU and let the engine relearn the adaptive values." Considering what you said, plug and play.
Hi Dan, doubtful. If it's not already a catalog part item (meaning it's own SKU) they are not likely to do it. And if they did, it would go thru normal distribution.
Reviving an old thread for anyone who may need it. Having some idling/ jumpy RPM (1k-1.3k) on cold starts. Last on start up for 3-5 seconds then stabilizes. Start also is “strong”. New battery is ordered since previous owner didn’t use tender and only killswitch. Here’s the link to Bosch MAF sensors. MUCH cheaper than the whole assembly from Ricambi. https://driven2automotive.com/car-parts/4571-f-00c-2g2-030-044-bosch-air-flow-sensor-insert.html Thanks Dan!
Don’t know! I haven’t ordered them yet. I have a new battery on order and tender. Previous owner used the batt kill switch every time he didn’t drive the car. Hoping that will be the fix but am not sure.
Is this the needed part? https://www.autoparts-forless.com/gb/maf-sensor/222-f00c2g2044-caudalimetro-alfa-fiat-lada-lancia-1245780001888.html Also seems to have the key to remove the existing 5 point tamper proof torx.
Replica, probably from the Far East. I wouldn't use it. Keep an eye out for original Bosch. Like this: https://driven2automotive.com/car-parts/4571-f-00c-2g2-030-044-bosch-air-flow-sensor-insert.html
I tried that site but don't see USA as an option when selecting country.....just about every other country and US territory. No delivery to US? Sent from my Galaxy
He's already stated he hasn't purchased from them yet. You will need to contact the seller directly for information
They are all Torx.. Torx T-bits = 6-point star Torx TR-bits = 6-point star, "Security version", with center pin Torx TS-bits = 5-point star, "Security version", with center pin
