So, here I am again fixing an annoying problem that do not ruin my driving experience, but the screaming of the dial tone was really annoying. so....I drove a little bit without the fuse 20AMP of the roof pump after receiving the famous "roof failure" screaming code and "stop the car close the roof" beeping code. After reading all the other threads , I realize that I never saw a diagnose for a fail of the HS10 or HS11 sensors. The HS 10 was the one faulty on my 2012 California and it is located on the LEFT HAND STRIKER PLATE ON THE FRONT ROOF SHELL. so.......I replace it....The roof would not open or close ...I had to manually open it, reversing the emergency closing routine, and when the roof was open it was clear that replacing the sensor would have being a simple task that everybody can do. IF you think about it make sense that the latch sensor was responsible for the "roof failure" it was trying over and over to close, or open the roof but the sensor was not communicating the position of the roof on the striker. So it was not a problem with the windows position like everybody always assume (me included)......but the silly HS10 or HS11 on the striker plate. Here some pics of the adventure.Interesting note......obviously I called everybody in the USA and Italy about a replacement for a HN10/HS11 and they were not available. I was quoted 3/6 weeks and cost between$300 and $600. I founded a couple used in Australia for $99.00 shipped....I believe was the right choice just to see If my diagnose was correct. So far it is working , open and closing as supposed to be. another interesting sensor many time responsible for faulty roof motion is the tonneau one (PE50), but that will shoot a different code.

Just wanted to share, so hard to find info on how to do it yourself on a California.

Thank you Alex! all still working since Saturday!! Funny is that the trim screws are in different points from what is showing in the shop manual, still easy to understand where they are located, but different spots.
