Congrats to Hami for yet another pole. Magic lap he did. Nice job by Stroll and by Charles. Vettel, hmm not so much.
Don’t know what’s happening with him. He was looking like one of the new gen guys (along with Norris, Charles and Max) and now he looks like he should be in the Alfa or Williams, Pressure is what separates the wheat from the chaff
This is the 7th year of the hybrid era and still Mercedes manages to qualify a second ahead of the rest. Also the gap with last year is strange, back then Mercedes was just 1 tenths ahead of Ferrari but also just 2 tenths on RB: https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2019/races/1009/great-britain/qualifying.html Bad for the sport.
That's the Red Bull effect: once your are not the "ointed one" anymore, you see your form declining quickly. It happened to many before: Ricciardo, Vettel, Kvyat, Gasly, etc ...
Norris is qualy driver of the day! Takes a slower car and beats Stroll in a car that should shine on a 'power' circuit. Clone Point did not maximize its qualy again.
`1`` It is a strange situation - Ricci fought it well but after the team did not at all discipline Max for Baku incident, he saw there was no point in fighting Marko at all. Marko is the dark lord Sith of Red Bull
I agree. But with a nod toward Chuck Leclerc . . . I was actually pulling for the Stroller to get a top five.
Stroll was a disappointment. Charles and Norris do stand out. Charles did much more than I thought was possible. Norris just continues to show speed when needed and not expected lol
And all this time we thought Mercedes was extraordinary..... No! Ferrari & RB slower than last year simply means they put in less work
Toto was saying that in an interview. They went into this season feeling both would be a threat and found ways to squeeze out more performance, we know what happened to Ferrari but RBR’s drop in form remains a mystery
I did not expect Ferrari to be only a tenth off RB. Either they're also struggling or we found some of those lost ponies. Something wrong with Vettel's car still. McLaren with a merc in the back could be a real challenger next year. Pretty cool to have 4 different engines in the top 5, though.
Well, I suppose Marko didn't hire him to beat Verstappen anyway. Although some may say that if they had left Gasly in that seat and they'd get the same results with less BS.
I think that Tracing Point will fade as the season progresses. How can you develop a car that you didn't design in the first place?
Various teams has had upgrades, no teams car is the same as 4 months ago, so looks like the lockdown rules were'nt really rules
I believe the lockdown rules were more in regards to giving the employees the annual summer break as now they won't have it with the back to back races. Since the lockdown was a LOT longer than that, probably some of that time was legally spent by the teams developing the cars.
Recall last yr where Charles struggled early, then found his groove with getting the car setup right for quali. I think he is just now starting to figure the car out. Hopefully he can keep pace with Max tomorrow.
