It's an F1 section on a Ferrari forum. F1 is a competition between a number of teams (not just Ferrari) and I'm sure we all want to see competition, and for excellence in engineering and driving to win.

But it's pointless moaning about how Mercedes are too good, are spending too much, have all the best people, are cheating with the collusion of <insert 3rd party here> etc. It's really up to Ferrari and the other teams to get their acts together and do better. They have plenty of money, plenty of people and a brand that everyone wants to be associated with.

ATM it looks like Mercedes and then the rest, but if you love F1 there is still plenty to enjoy, and in Hamilton we have a driver who is well worthy of his success. It's really not his or Mercedes fault if the rest are behind.

 

I think he understands English too. No need to resort to French unless you want to start your own private conversation - maybe to do some ethnic bashing or flag waving - which appears to be your main objective in joining this board.

After the British Grand Prix in which Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz suffered tyre failures in the final two laps, Pirelli announced they had launched an immediate investigation as to the cause - and today they reported the findings of their initial analysis.

The front left on Bottas's Mercedes was the first to go on the penultimate lap, forcing him to pit and dropping him from second down to 11th at the flag. Sainz suffered a similar fate, slipping from 4th to 13th, while Hamilton was able to limp to the finish line to win, depite his front left also having deflated on the final lap.

On Tuesday, Pirelli said the failures were the result of an unusually long stint on one set of tyres, coupled with the increased speed of the 2020 F1 cars, meaning the tyres were subject to the "biggest forces ever seen".


In a statement, the Italian company said: "The key reason is down to a set of individual race circumstances that led to an extremely long use of the second set of tyres.

"The second safety car period prompted nearly all the teams to anticipate their planned pit stop and so carry out a particularly long final stint: around 40 laps, which is more than three-quarters the total race length on one of the most demanding tracks of the calendar.

"Combined with the notably increased pace of the 2020 Formula 1 cars (pole position was 1.2 seconds faster compared to 2019) this made the final laps of the British Grand Prix especially tough, as a consequence of the biggest forces ever seen on tyres generated by the fastest Formula 1 cars in history.

"The overall result was the most challenging operating conditions for tyres. These led to the front-left tyre (which is well-known for working hardest at Silverstone) being placed under maximum stress after a very high number of laps, with the resulting high wear meaning that it was less protected from the extreme forces in play."

Despite the issues in Sunday's race, the tyre allocation for all teams will move one step softer for this weekend's race, the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, which is also being held at Silverstone.

Pirelli have confirmed that the change to the softer compounds will go ahead as planned, but said "usage prescription will be reviewed" in terms of the tyre pressures to be used.

"For the second race at Silverstone this weekend, Pirelli confirms the nominated compounds: C2, C3, and C4, being one step softer than those seen at the last GP," the statement added.

"Also the usage prescription will be reviewed, increasing the minimum tyre pressures to reduce the stress on the construction."

Having seen William post for over 10 years now, you are correct. He feeds on his trolling. Watch his style of posting, it's very clear. He goes on for a while being buddy with everyone, agreeing with their statements...then one day to the next he changes opinion completely and everything becomes an argument. A quite interesting way of trolling if you ask me, as he lulls people in almost a false idea of friendship.

Call him out on his double statements and there is silence, pretends he doesn't see it.

I have a suspicion that MB is doing something fraudulent and/or against regulations. Their Delta to the rest of the teams is huge and much larger than the Delta SF had when they were bending the rules and using a loophole . Its just a suspicion..,

 

Agreed, I just posted a link about how much hp they were running for Silverstone qual and how the other teams compare with their HP. Apparently MB has some new gasoline that they are using. If they maintain this gap(1 second plus) I am sure they will be investigated.

 

So Toto will instruct the Balerina to allow the Buttler to win a few after they secure another championship...

I did some digging. The engines are of course done by Honda...they upped their staff to 450, from 250 last year.

Transmissions done in house I think.

 

What bothers me why aren't Mercedes investigated?

 

Marko and Horner in particular would be quick to do something. I guess they lack enough substance to protest. I do believe they would if they had something.

Yes Mercedes could be doing something.........or they have built a very effective engine/PU.

 

So, was the previous team member counts including engine development sub-Team?

If not, why not add the Honda engine team to the Red Bull team {or some other somewhat reasonable way to amortize the engine/transmission team members over the consumers of those engines and transmissions} ?
