I would far prefer a 308 / 288 GTO based retro looking supercar to the F40 look!!


A modern 288GTO variant would be what Dreams are made of.

because they are trying to make money.....

the F40 is arguably the most popular ferrari on a ww basis, but there are only 1315 of them, they cost $1 mil+, and half of the fanboys with that kind of money for a car cant drive a manual transmission and would likely not be able to live with the spartan nature of the car, let alone not having any driver aids at all.
so......it makes sense that they build a new version, with all the latest modern features, inflate the price to the moon, market the hell out of it, make sure a few select people get one, and then rake in the cash.

they would do it with the other iconic models if they dared to incur the wrath of the truly monied collectors, but they dont.

 

Not sure Ferrari is worried about the wrath of collectors. They have their own view & value of their heritage and respect it fully. Making a modern F40 is an attractive proposition, however I struggle to see how they can do it accurately and profitably. One can buy a good original F40 for a million Euro. Would they spend the same (or likely more) for a heavier car made in similar numbers that only shares the name with the original?
If Ferrari wanted to make a modern F40, with a 800hp turbocharged V8, dual clutch gearbox, mostly carbon construction , aero and 1250kg kerb weight they would have a queue at 1 million EUR, but I doubt they’d consider that attractive business as the car would cost a lot to produce.

Sounds like a Ferrari version of the Senna.

 

actually i think that is exactly what they are going to do.

they can easily and cheaply take the pista, make the engine slightly more potent, give it new bodywork which is a modern echo of the F40, and produce 1315 of them, charge about 700-800 k for it, and wait for the cash to roll in.

 

Pista hasn't got a carbon construction as George330 proposed.

the 288gto looks nice but the f40 is more of a sportscar in styling imo and is more beautiful

 

I own a 288 GTO and I can accept that Johnny Bravo feels that way. It is his opinion. I don't have to agree with him, but respect his opinion.

 

The 288 is like a rubenesque version of the 308. The F40 on the other hand is a carnivore...
Two new Ferrari models have been somewhat delayed but are still coming this year. Next year more interesting cars are on the way to!

Thank you. I don't find it that ugly tbh, I was talking more in terms of comparing it to the F40.
As you said, it's all a matter of taste. My favorite 2 supercars ever in terms of looks are the F50 and the Enzo, and I know a lot of people that don't think they are beautiful at all. But for me they are gorgeous, they look stunning.

 

This car follows in the footsteps of the McLaren F1, although that was better looking in my opinion.
But I just love Murray's idea/vision of what a supercar should be like.

The T50 will weigh under a ton. So my question here is why can't a huge company with far more money like Ferrari make such a car ?!??
Why all their halo cars have to be so ****in' heavy ?????

Because that's not their idea of a hypercar. If anything, the Valkyrie is a much better benchmark than the T50.

 

What is then ???? Making something as heavy as the Chiron ?!??
The reason so many people praise the F40 more than 30 years after it came out is cause it's so nimble and agile, it's an incredible driving experience, it doesn't feel like heavy like say a LaFerrari.

 

There's no comparison, between a Valkyrie/T.50 and a Chiron the purpose of these two completely different cars.

But I understand your point of view on lightness.

 

the valk is expected to weigh around 1050kg, a lot lighter than the 1600kg of the la ferrari etc
