If it helps, when my father was alive, he owned a 250GTE in the late '70s/early '80s. His complaint was that it drove and handled like a truck. He far preferred his 365 California Spyder. Even funnier - he bought the 250GTE for around 5k and the 365 for around 10k. Too bad he sold them both by 1985 before prices really went up....
Cars of earlier years are more brutal, but fun to drive. Driver aids really dull the experience. My G30 911 is such a pleasure to drive no power steering. Same for the Testarossa, speed sensitive so lightens up but you fell everything the road offers. Unlike my M3. Fast but bland.
This car is back on sale, i was keen on it until saw how bright the red was. If it was more of Bourduex red, would have been nice.
Well that’s exactly what I’m saying. The 355 is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ferrari ever but has a reputation for maintenance which may or may not be justified. The 348 is a nice car but even it’s era it wasn’t the best nor rare, 355 wasn’t rare but it certainly didn’t get the backlash performance wise (deserved or not ) than the 348 got. http://atcm.co/S2PVDP/20adcab5 48 k needs clutch, service, horn. How bad can it be? Not for me not for a good at home mechanic say 44kUSD seems like a good deal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Slightly off-topic, but I've seen that same Alpine head unit in a lot of 355s - including mine. I know they aren't original, but how did they all end up with the same aftermarket unit? Mine seems to have been installed at the time of purchase - I have the manual and an install date was written on it and coincides with when my car was purchased new.
We have a 1996 355 Spider we bought a few years old. If I remember correctly, all Ferrari's up until about 1998/1999 were not shipped with radios installed from the factory. Our's has a sony headunit which was installed at time of purchase. I'm sure someone with more knowledge then me will chime in, but I believe all 355's except for maybe the last cars 1998/1999 left with a blank faceplate over where the headunit was to be installed. I think filters and over filtered pics obscure the way the car actually looks, it always seems fishy to me.
I see close to $20k (retail) of work to make the car a low mileage queen. Many years of neglect from the brake rotors/hoses to the acorn nuts on engine cover. First thing I would do is service every aspect of the vehicle.
im not saying the mileage is false, im saying the interior looks neglected, just to be clear. thats a great foundation. a good leather guy and sticky rx and ur done.
i purchased the same one, just coincidence, as I removed the original for repair (thought it would be a good idea to have « something » there in the meantime - not a big fan of the delete plate look). I think the Alpine unit is one that people gravitate to that looks period correct more or less. Any of the vintage radios are from a different era, so don’t match. I guess we all have similar taste in cars, so our tastes in radios is not that different either!
The Clarion M508 is what I would put in my next 355. I put one in my boat. Great unit and has a 90s feel/look with modern tech.
i just bought one of these for mine: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-80PRS
Yeah BAT'ers go crazy for cars that have been held by one person for a long time... I never understood that?? Cars and houses get 'gone though' when they change owners. Never updated so much on my car as in the first 6 months I owned it. But hey here's a mediocre car that's sticky all over the damn place and has a scratched up chassis but some dude has had it for ever... yes will go for 6 figures probably! The F355 is still worth it though! -- hope someone fixes this up.
Whoever did get it got a really nice car - this is the early M2.7 and appears to have the early cylinder heads (judging by the number of screws on the valve covers, as well as the serial number) I wonder what the extra lights around the gauges are all about? Image Unavailable, Please Login
