Interesting, there's only one ABS equipped 328 GTS that was "Australian" delivered. It was destined for Hong Kong, but for some reason the thing wasn't taken off the ship when in port and ended up here. It carries a UK VIN, but has an Australian compliance plate. I have the number somewhere, I'll dig it out in 2034.
I do basic maintenance to three of these 1989 328s. Of the three, only RW is aware his car is not ABS equipped. The other two specifically asked me to "Check the ABS" when I changed the brake fluid. They were astounded when I told them their car didn't have it. One even was even told by the salesman when he bought it it had ABS. It's really easy to identify a 328 with ABS. ABS check light on the dash which extinguishes on start up, hall effect sensors on the wheels, ABS relay in the fusebox and the ABS pump under the front hood like a 355. I think the above is a common misconception with the 1989 models, the convex wheels lead people to believe it's an ABS car.
I imported 1989 328GTB #79332 into Australia in 2012, I’ve had the car from new and I guess the only abs equipped GTB in the country, so that makes one....for starters!
