Amazing project. One of my favorite Ferraris of all time. Had a poster of a yellow over black one when I was in high school.

Funny detail about the clutch being set up wrong.

I've always loved the white/clear light covers over the orange ones. It gives the car a much smarter look.

I didn’t realise that, where did you get the lenses? I noticed that Mr Fiat carries them.

When I bought my car the right light had a big hole in the lens but I had a pair of later injected lights complete sitting in my stash - the black housing details are different on later cars . I just swapped the one light for the time being out of laziness but had a pair of clear lenses in my stash as well. I got those clear lenses from Eurospares years before. Fast forward to the 84 Prunga injected boxer restoration thread that was just completed this year. When the project first started he needed a few front end parts I had including lights so I sold the injected lights forcing me to do the lens swap.

This car had the amber bulbs already, my car I run the clear bulbs. My car should have amber lenses in Canada as well as the US, the bulb alone isn't enough but the cops don't bother me.

The reverse light harness is exposed to a lot of heat and ends up getting baked so I cut out a strip from a roll of thermal blanket I have and wrapped it in foil. I put it over the harness to hold it and protect it. When the bumper is installed there about a 1/4" of space between the inside of the bumper and the steel bar it bolts to. This pinches the pad in place which is about a 1/2" thick and I also glued it to the inside of the bumper. Its not going anywhere. I started adding the insulation pad on 512's depending on the muffler because it'll damage the paint on the rear bumper otherwise.

Paul...is there a different clutch setup/geometry between the BB and the BBi? The reason I am asking is that in my 1st BB a 76 s/n 21171 the clutch pedal effort seemed much higher than the 83 BBi that my Dad bought new from Algar. I was able to drive both back to back and they were different animals. Of course my carby BB was faster....or at least it sounded faster....lol. But I distinctively remember how easy it was to depress the third pedal in the BBi once it got "over center". The BB was a leg strengthening exercise in heavy traffic. But maybe it was because my car was 9 years old when I found it in Ancona. [with ORIGINAL timing belts.....OMG!!].

Its different. Ferrari changed the pedal helper spring arrangement in the pedal box on the later injected cars.

I have been closely watching this thread. According to the Forza article about my 81 BB, s/n 35411 it was originally black. After the upgrades and restoration by Carobu it was re-painted red over black. At some point I would prefer it go back to the original nero. I will be contacting you at some point in the future about my car. I know....I said that 4 years ago....lol. Too many distractions!!

Thanks for the confirmation. At least my memory is still there....lol. That was the only thing I preferred about my Dad's BBi over my BB. His car didn't have the induction roar behind the driver's head.

Thanks! I started in mid March and of course that was bad timing with Covid. The body shop was down to the owners and no employees with no incentive to come back with the government paying people to stay home, that slowed things down.

Not sure if many people, including the cops, know those lens are turn signals. One of the cooler features of these cars.

God, the original design of the rear of Boxers is so nice with both the 3 lens and 3 exhaust tips. Black Boxers matter! Sorry.
