Some time last year several front running cars were held after a race and FIA watched as each team describes their car during strip down.
I think this was were Ferrari were (ahem) "caught" and where FIA added the second fuel flow measurement device.

So, right now all we can speculate is the Mercedes is better at hiding their rule bendings.....

Mercedes say that Ferrari 'pushed' them to develop fearing the chassis would improve to match the PU. I think in total Mercedes found power to include PU, fuel, and better chassis/aero improvements vs the rest. Until we have a solid foundation what else could it be?? No user here should think I am defending Mercedes either. If they cheat they should be penalized if proven.

If Mercedes is investigated and found guilty of cheating , I hope they get penalized by striping them of their illegaly won titles as constructors, and theiir driver of his Tittles too.

The article said that Mercedes had got the fuel approved by the FIA. So maybe they are not being investigated because the FIA doesn't think they are doing anything wrong? Maybe they are just applying the rules better than Honda and Ferrari?

It's kinda pointless blaming your losses on someone else; you really need to focus on making what you are do better, and I'm sure that's just what Ferrari and Honda are doing. Fortunately they have plenty of people here coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories on their behalf, so they needn't waste their own energy on them.

At worst, they could only disqualify them from the current season, and still it would need to be something very obscene.

Based on what - jealousy. Im a bit more upset with Ferrari management and Vettel. If they want better results then develop and do not make mistakes on pit wall and in the cockpit. Its amazing how that would improve things. Potentially 2 titles were lost. If they FIA want to inspect Mercedes Im thinking they have the authority if there is a reason. One would think, as I posted earlier that Marko and Horner would be in favor of that, and swift to ask for it with even a hint of evidence.

Relax. One thing at a time. Let's see how the Racing Point investigation goes first. That might open things up for further questioning.

    You wish !!!
There is no retro-active judgement, and the FIA cannot go back to previous years.
You have to be caught in the act to be sanctioned.
Also, even disqualified a team and its driver can keep their wins (remember Schumacher the year he was disqualified, also Alonso kept his win after the Crashgate).

Ater what happened in canada last year do you still think Mercedes and the rest run by the same rules? Do you think the fia gives a **** about how ilegal the mercs have been all these years? When you have the courage to pronounce as the winner the guy that arrived in second place what else can you expect!!??

The steering system of Merc’s should not have been allowed.

Isn't that exactly the point? It's a steering system so it is allowed. Had it been a suspension system, it would not.

But I don't imagine it's giving them a second a lap. Marginal gains.

I think you'll find that everything affects aero; turning, accelerating, braking.

Steering implies changing the car’s direction. That’s not steering

    Translation :
Mercedes knew what Ferrari was doing with their PU.
They knew it was borderline but legal.
They decided to do the same for this year.
At the same time an Ferrari insider for whatever reasons decided to talk to FIA.
The FIA unable to prove the trick reached an agreement with Ferrari to ban it.
So now Ferrari has the weakest PU but the more legal one and Mercedes the most powerful with no inquiries from FIA.
Kudos to Mercedes for the move !
No more a sport for me

No, just the way the wheels point. The car's direction is determined by it's dynamics. Ever heard of opposite lock? Understeer? Oversteer?

Where did you get that from? So things without wheels like a ship cannot steer at all then? And adjusting camber is steering is it? Nonsense

I wonder if that insider is now sleeping with the fishes?
Or getting a job in the UK?

Anyway, here we go, a new kind of excitement, will we get out of Q1?

Sorry I thought we were talking about F1? And steering changes camber anyway, even without DAS.
