I finally have time to write this post! I'm finally a Ferrari owner for the 2nd time. I started by looking at the wrecked car in this post.....https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2008-599-gtb-95-950-00.618394/ I actually had an agreement to purchase the car with the seller but it did not work out. (long story and probably for the better....). That set me out watching the market and the cars available. I looked at several and was very very close to purchasing a black/black one from Cauley Ferrari but after some back and forth, we just didn't get it to work out, (Tom Fazio was GREAT, though!) so I decided to pursue SN#151978 in Salt Lake City. Had it inspected and it passed with flying colors. Last Thursday a buddy and I flew to SLC and drove the car home 1,900 miles back to Indiana. What an amazing trip it was!! The car performed flawlessly through the mountains and across the plains on the trip back home. A total of 25hrs in the car over 3 days and 1,895 miles. Here are some pics to enjoy! Looking forward to being active on this section of FChat for years to come! Jim

Rosso Rubino Micliatzzo It's going to my guy Mike Cardenas with Forza Detailing in a month to remove the oxidation and micro swirls. (It does have full frontal PPF that looks amazing) It will get a 95%+paint correction to the rest of the car, then a complete glass coat. Mike is considered one of the best in the country and has done all of my cars over the past 10 years. His work is stunning and I'm excited to see how this color POPS when he's finished. Here's an example of what he did to my then new 2015 Yukon and a few weeks ago to my Aston...... Can't wait to see what this paint will look like fully corrected. I believe that would be Metalizato, in other words Metal Flake - Ruby Red. Beautiful. I would suggest some kind of clear bra across the hood if you plan on driving it a lot.
I'm planning to do a complete side by side post (with pics) on the driving impressions between the two. This 599 checks my "Car Bucket List" by having 2-V12 GT Cars in my garage. I'm not a collector, but rather a DRIVER of the cars I own. I'll say initially that the 599 is a BEAST compared to the Aston. The Aston is a very refined automobile with a ton of power/torque and the 6spd Manual is they only way to own a DB9! The 599 is like a pissed off caged cheetah when your right foot and the proper gear wants it to be. I can feel the power of this engine fighting the rear wheels when I downshift to 2nd gear at 55 to get on it. It's awesome and scary at the same time. My plan is to do back to back drives on the same route, take pics and make same-day comparisons....stay tuned. Jim
I'll verify the paint code when I get home, but my understanding is that its this color: Rubino Micalizzato which has mica vs. metal flakes. Stay tuned. Jim
Beautiful story and amazing car. Love that color on the 599. Congratulations and welcome to the madness
