Here is a good quick overview video of that hike. Just an amazing experience.

Another good Colorado trip in the books. This year I didn't spend as much time and trip was more for my daughter and girlfriends daughter, but still added 5 14'ers to my list, now up to 8!

Did Pike's Peak from Crags Campground, 15.09 miles and 4,337' climbing. I did it solo and although only 36 hours acclimation, my legs were fresh and I hit it hard. Completed in 7 hours 59 minutes.

I guided my girlfriend to her first 14'er and 3 more, the "relatively" easy Decalibron loop summiting Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross in one 7.5 mile loop. She did great for her first one, especially as a flatlander who hasn't trained lately. We took it really slow, she hasn't developed quick mountain feet yet, but that's OK at least no twisted ankles!

Not exactly epic, but hiked the Grandfather Mountain trail in NC from the swinging bridge to Calloway Peak and back in cold stormy weather a few years ago with my brother. We were the only people on the mountain besides the staff. It's rare to be able to do that hike without the crowds and the winds and rain make for an exhilarating experience.

Aside from that, Angels Landing, the Virgin River Narrows hike, and Grinnell Glacier are some of my more memorable hikes.

Had a good week in Colorado. Mia did her 2nd 14’er and I did #12 and 13.

Monday with less than 18 hours acclimation we did the Vail Berrypicker as training (7 miles/2,100 feet).

I think it's awesome that you do this - If I wasn't afraid of heights, I'd be in - LOL. On a side note, I actually briefly looked in to hiking around Lake Tahoe - that would be a fun 2-3 week adventure.

I should start with the Superior Trail North of Duluth, MN - it's only a couple of hours away.

alltrails.com is great, be sure to look at the distance, vert gain, and recent trail reports. there were people on the trail yesterday that shouldn't have been.

I don't mind the elevation or being up on the mountain, I won't do the climbs that have exposure right along a deadly cliff edge. About 15 of the Colorado 14'ers are like that, that's why I'll never do them all. I did Long's and swore to never climb exposure like that again.
