I can't find the descriotion from a site called Hush Hush but the price was $19,000 which probably less than it cost to cut it from a coupe. The top looks misshapen and fly yellow was a poor color choice but why are 400s cut into convertibles dipping don below say Toyota Supra targa prices? Or is this because this appears to be a sloppy job?

Have you actually looked at those pics? Really LOOKED at them?

This is a known vehicle here. Beyond "rough" condition. At $9,000 it is overpriced.

That example speaks for itself, I might pay 10K for it, take the engine and sell the rest. Give it the proper burial it deserves.

Even the best example of a cut 400 is a failure in my opinion.

This car was heavily discussed not so long ago. Lots of items to sort out
and the paint is taty: poor masking, radiator and fans were yellow painted...

À more expensive car with less issues would make more sense (budget wise) .

I think some of you are missing the most damning piece of information in those pictures, The Beverly Hills Car Club plate on the front.

I would sooner light a pile of $100 bills on fire than ever give them a dime.

I can assure you not only is it trash now, but it was most likely assembled from 3 additional, also ****ty, 400s, just to appear in this condition.

Oh I would have paid $9000 for it easily..... haha.....it's easily worth that in parts.

Unfortunately, without trying to disparage owners of cut 400s here, I am of the same opinion. I just do not like conversions like that.

It wasn't. It was part of the car collection (included a white 348tb as well) that were all pushed outside and left to rot. Lots of press on those cars a couple years ago or so.

i've seen a Lorenz that was quite well made, but got to agree with you guys: externally these cabs do look good, but the interior is spoiled somehow. The stock interior is gorgeous, even a clean cut looks like a DIYer job. For instance the hand pull for the lorenz is no good match for the rest of the accessories. Here again this was a really well made conversion, so no doubt a cheaper conversion (such as the Straman) would probably be worse.

I would also consider that the raised trunk of the 412 would suit better the cabs. Very few 412 cabs though.

That yellow one is simply a turd, cut or not. If any 400i deserves to be re-bodied it is this one. Not even our old comrade Mitch would have tried to save this one.
The crisp roof lines of the 400i melt away with any of the soft top conversions. Workmanship on all I've seen was sketchy as well.

Not sure why everyone has to be all alarmist. It's a parts car, nothing more.

The gray seats are the icing on the cake.
