I’m having the front portion (the part with the vents) recovered with new leather at Prestige Auto Upholstery next week. I’m a little concerned that the front part will not match the color of the rear portion of the dash. The two halves bolt together and are right next to each other.

Anyone else had an issue after redoing their dash?

It’s on my 2009 so I’m assuming there has been some fading to the old leather.

It all comes down to your upholstery shop. I had my dash redone and it is great.

The only one that can answer your question is the shop doing the work. A perfect match will be difficult. Close is possible.

Thanks guys. The place that is doing the repair, does all the interior work for the nearby Ferrari dealership.

If concerned why not have it all replaced?

It’s 11 year old leather...going to have to get used to good enough unless it’s all replaced. Some interior leather spray that’s a little glossy helps out a little.

It’s a minimum of $3500 to do the whole dash and $850 to do just the front part.
If doing just the front will look good, I want to spend the money that I saved on carbon fiber door sills :)

I paid a guy $400 to remove it, worth every penny. $400 to put it all back together once the leather is re-done at the upholstery shop.
I'm good with mechanical stuff, but not interiors.

I had exactly this done. I had the dash removed to address the popped vents which I replaced with Rizzo's aluminum vents.

I planned to recover the entire dash but the upholsterer talked me out of it. He said it was very complicated and would be very expensive.

My dash is black....the 2 parts look identical with the exception of the old stitching which looks more dark gray than black.

BTW while the dash was out I picked up the back piece and did the Leaterique treatment on it....I suggest you do the same or have the shop do it.

    I’m installing Rizzo’s vents too.

What do you mean, I picked up the back piece and did the Leathertique treatment? I don’t understand.

There are 2 parts to the dash. The "front" piece where the vents are and the "back" piece which comprises the rest of the dash.
Since I didn't have the "back" piece reupholstered, I did a deep cleaning using the 2 step Leatherique process.

So the shop recovered the dash. The color and texture of the leather were perfect. The stitching did not match, so I’ve peeled it off and trying a guy in Carson, CA. I’ll have it back Monday. He assured me that it would be perfect. He does all the interior work for West Coast Customs.
