That's pretty strong money for that car IMO. Glad to see it!

Sad. But I’m not a collector. When I was a kid I would buy baseball cards for the gum. I would trade away the cards. I’m sure some Roger Maris and Micky Mantle slipped through my hands.

I can’t get over the fact we’re talking about cars. Nasty, smelly, things that can kill you, cars. I have only owned one Ferrari brand new - a Challenge Stradale. I took it to the track during the Ferrari French Quarter Classic when it barely had a thousand miles. It cost me $1,000 to get the bumper resprayed but I didn’t care.

Everyone enjoys their car (their property) in their own way. I hear the comments a lot about how awful it is that some owners don't drive the wheels off their cars. I think it's important to remember that these cars (well, most of them) are beautiful. Ferrari didn't just pack speed and performance in ugly packages. Beauty in styling was always a major part of their success, and that was by design. In fact, I would guess that most Ferrari owners (and Ferrari fans) are drawn, first and foremost, to their cars because of how they look and not how fast they go. I know I am. If some choose to enjoy their cars as works of art, more power to them. If others choose to rack-up tens of thousands of miles on their's, well, that's fine as well. For me, driving my cars is an event. I don't use them to run errands or in a utilitarian manor. That isn't what they are to me. Thus, no, I don't put a lot of miles on them, but I'm very happy with how I enjoy my cars, and that's precisely as it should be.

One thing we can agree on - this hobby is a little crazy, however one chooses to indulge in it.

I’m considering a 328. Hard to make sense of the large range and asking prices.

Seems to me that cars with less than 10,000 miles should be $100,000

Cars with between 10,000 and 20,000 miles should be around $75,000 - $85,000

20,000 mile to 35,000 mile cars should be $65,000- $75,000

Those with more than 35,000 miles should range from $50,000 - $65,000

    Thoughts?

I certainly would disagree with your assessment, but, given that I own one, it would be perceived as self promotion to offer up a detailed opinion with numbers. I would suggest that you pay close attention to some of the recent GTS sales of sub 10,000 cars and add a 20% GTB premium to that. That same formula would certainly be reflected on all GTB’s based on miles. Most importantly, the condition of the car is the critical factor. Even a time capsule that was poorly maintained in an improper environment can be in awful condition. In case you’re unaware, US GTB’s are highly prized and especially rare, particularly superb, low mile examples.

I have not seen a 328 with 100k being offered for sale so I couldn’t offer an opinion.

Thanks for your comment. I should’ve mentioned in my original post that my assessment is based on GTS models. I agree that the GTB model would sell at a premium.

It is an outlier because it’s an ultra premium example, but they do exists.

I just saw a thread that referenced 1987 Ferrari 328 GTB s/n #70147. I owned s/n #70147 from 1996 through 2002. It was white with a red interior, and I used it as my daily driver from 1999 through 2001. In 2001, it was a featured car in the "50 years of Ferrari & Pininfarina" display at the Concorso Italiano held at the Quail Lodge Resort in Carmel, California. I hope the current owner is enjoying it as much as I did! Cheers! Chris

Chris, we talked about Bianco 328GTB in the "328 GTB Registry" thread.
To my knowledge #70147 is now located in NY since 2004. Do you still have some pictures of this car ? Especially from interior ? I don't know other US Bianco / Rosso
