So there appears to be a question that some engine suppliers are tricking the energy harvesting similar to what Ferrari is speculated of doing with fuel.

I somehow feel confident any breach will only apply to RB and Honda (wink), but this could be interesting.

Seems its linked to new rule on qualy modes. I dont think its something Mercedes can avoid, as qualy mode rule is made to slow them down more than others??

If this is determined to be a race concern as well... that'll be a game-changer. My tin-foil hat tells me that Merc will escape completely unscathed, however. Ferrari will be banned, RB will have to concede their race win, and Renault will be ignored because... well.. they're Renault.

Perhaps their next mission is to attack the Honda power unit ?

Get rid of these stupid fuel regulations. Pretty soon we will need lawyers filing complaints before each race.

Just tell them how much fuel they can carry for each race. SIMPLE!

Let the teams figure out how best to use it or run out. Isn't the point of the regulations to get them to have the maximum power at the lowest consumption?

So -- LET THEM anyway they can.

Bring back refueling, remove all the silly electronics. One race minimum for the drivetrain.

This must be a result of the FIA agreement with Ferrari to help them identify possible regulatory loopholes.

Glad to see they’re invoking new directives. Remember how they imposed additional sensors on Ferrari charging system with no findings though in that instance.

Indeed, it is not racing, it is management to the rules.

You need to have a specific BTU content in order to equalize the fuel everyone uses.
Or make everyone use the same fuel.

Agree, i already heard many people questioni9ng how it was possible for Merc to increase engine power after all this clamping down..as always something smells fishy around that team...

It seems that the "collaboration" (ahem) with Ferrari is bringing some fruits.

So far, it´s quite possible that Honda was doing some trick, as they also are slower than last year. Let´s see who is the next to fall.

No regulation on fuel use, please. It’s just another outdated attempt at “relevance.” The world is awash in oil. Racing under any fuel restriction is an unnecessary artifice, just like the silly tire regulations.

+++ to all of the above - my favorite races were those that every lap was qualifying pace, refueling, no tire mandates... I can't think of anything more frustrating than having a race car run 7 seconds slower than its potential for nearly the entire race just to manage tires. Wanna seem something magical, go look at the French GP from the early 2000's when Braun gets on the radio and tells Schumacher they're going to 4 stop the race and he needs more speed. That was magical to watch

More FIA stupidity. It is not up to them to "equalize" the teams, it is supposed to be the teams trying beat each other by building a better car and having the best driver. F1 is dying the death of a thousand cuts.

And wasn't Ferrari supposed to have had some cheat with the K as well? We learned this year that is was fuel flow rate but I wouldn't put it past the other teams MB and RB in particular to tweak the k when everyone was looking the other way. I still wonder about MB oil smoke. I bet they are tweaking the "fuel" too.

I agree. Give them X amount of fuel for the race... and let them get on with it.... all this flow and monitoring is stifling.

FIA says burning oil is not allowed and is monitored in the fuel samples taken. you are only allowed X% of oil fuel mix. given how tight the engines are there is minimial fuel loss. However mixing Touluene into the oil... who knows what would happen...
