Message to"Red Rocket": I strongly recommend to respect copyrights. No matter where you "find" all these photographs. The fact that some may have been posted on FB or IG or somewehere else doesn't mean that you can simply copy and paste and post on fchat, and without even mentioning the individual source and/or copyright holder. As always, this is about intellectual property. We have had this discussion here a dozen times already. Nowadays most people simply don't care. A real shame. Marcel Massini
Well said, Marcel. This practice also makes it impossible for publishers to produce high-quality new books with unseen photographs that have to be sourced at great cost and at the right resolution, then carefully corrected for colour by a professional graphic artist.
Thanks for your concern. I do respect copyrights as I am a publisher myself. Not long ago I queried one of the moderators of this site about this issue of sharing pics that weren't clearly labelled with a copyright name and was told "It doesn't matter unless copyright holder requests take down...". Mr. Massini you once wrote that it was important to see old photos, I assume to help with the history of these important cars, so that's what I was doing.
I respectfully disagree; "impossible" is an over-statement. I for one DO respect the investment and expertise in good books, not just for the photos but also for the written content and I honor that investment by purchasing books I am interested in. Often I buy extra books for my friends. I prefer hard-copy books over digital content and I know many others who share the same sentiment.
