Do you have a source for that? All I've ever read was smoking history is associated with worse outcomes. WHO summarized a few meta analyses and other studies on it: https://www.who.int/news-room/commentaries/detail/smoking-and-covid-19

Sorry I don't. It was one of the many stories that came out about Covid. I want to say it was around May. You might want to do a search on the "Wuhan coronavirus" thread. It's likely referenced there.

Then again so many wrong statements have been made about the virus, wouldn't surprise me if this finding is wrong too.

~The case for smoking (or not) worsening Covid-19 is still out.

What is for sure is that being overweight is really bad for Covid patients.
1/3 of UK casualties were obese, way higher than the percentage of the population.

Conclusion: This meta-analysis of retrospective observational case series found an unexpectedly low prevalence of current smoking among hospitalized patients with COVID-19. Hospitalized current smokers had higher odds compared with non-current smokers but lower odds compared with former smokers for an adverse outcome. Smoking cannot be considered a protective measure for COVID-19. However, the hypothesis that nicotine may have a protective effect in COVID-19 that is partially masked by smoking-related toxicity and by the abrupt cessation of nicotine intake when smokers are hospitalized should be explored in laboratory studies and clinical trials using pharmaceutical nicotine products.

One thing is for sure, he would bring excitement back to the sport. He knows whatever they've got now simply doesn't sell.

My only comment on the tobacco thing is ..... I wish they were back in the sport ... there was a lot more money back then!!!! so teams were able to innovate and develop vs all the innovation killing rules we have today.

Indeed, and in the eastern economies the reverse, as reflected in the low Covid death stats.

By the way, I’m not a zero fat health fanatic, I like to eat and drink well. Just keep an eye on the weight and exercise.

Fat is not what causes obesity:: obesity is caused by carbohydrates ("the starch industry").
