The Ferrari battery is known for not being the best battery out there ... most people recommend Braille as a very good choice, although Interstate and Odyssey are also common choices.

I installed an Interstate MTX-49 H8 and am very happy with it. Also replaced the stock tender with a CTEK MXS 5.0.

What ever you do, DO NOT waste your money on OE crap batteries.
If you're in the US, get the Braille B10049
If you're in Europe get a Varta Silver Dynamic.
Unless you go lithium, nothing else is worth looking at.

Do you need a pigtail for the CTEK if you own a 2010 - 2014 California? Where can you find one?

The Ferrari supplied unit has a fixed adapter, so you can’t transfer it to the CTEK one. Some CTEKs are bundled with the correct adapter, so just make sure you know what you are getting. Just Google the CTEK MXS 5.0 to find the lowest price, and check with the retailer to see if it includes the adapter.

There is an adaptor for the Cali's rear charging port.
Someone on here sells them. Can't recall their name.
I lucked out. Boardwalk Ferrari had a few lying around, and let me have one for free.

Edit - when I switched my batter, I also switched to a CTEK 7002 per advice received here. I also charge in "snowflake" mode since I have a HELE car. The real secret to good performance, however, is to drive your Cali as often as you can.

Can you post a pic of the "correct" adapter. What about Optima batteries?

To the OPs original question. Does your car have HELE? If not you need a 12V 100Ah 850EN battery and if it has HELE you need a 12V 95Ah 850EN AGM battery.

The Varta non-HELE battery is the Varta H3 and the HELE battery is the Varta G14

+1 for the Varta G14. I just fitted one to my Cali-T (with HELE) and am very happy with it. Please note that if you have HELE there is a specific process to follow after battery change to recalibrate the battery condition sensor that is on the negative pole of the HELE cars. I posted about it here:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/alternator-failure-and-stop-start-failure-error-message.661100/

I hadn't seen the HELE battery sensor calibration process listed anywhere else on this site.
