    A million dollar question: what could be the model base for the next Icona car? If it’s a tribute to the F40, the F8 is the perfect base.

    If it’s a front engine Icona, that could only be the 812 base, as they are no front V8 engine model in the Ferrari history. But can Ferrari still use the 812 base as it is already used for the current Icona which is the Monza?

    I believe Iconas, like the hypercar, will be issued approx. every 10 years. Reason being, the customer profile for the Icona matches the hypercar. Further, I believe the Icona product line was created to increase revenue from these customers on a more frequent basis, however, it cannot be too frequent.

    To me, the next Icona will be at least 4-5 years after the next hypercar. Since the next hypercar is expected in 2023 the next Icona will likely be 2027 or 2028. By then, if the EU, via its impending 'Euro 7' regulation (expected to be revealed at the end of 2021) is even allowing new combustion engines models in the year 2028, whatever the next Icona is based upon will likely be quite different than anything ever before. That is, unless Ferrari decides to stop making cars compliant with EU regulations.

    You are wrong. The next Icona will come before the next hypercar

    Normally one of these two should be presented (private or « public » show?) at Finali Mondiali Misano 2020 by the end of the year.
    Normally.

    I’m struggling to like the rear end I keep seeing on the VS in spy shots. It looks like a clunky after-thought. The whole styling is a total disappointment. It needs to look fast even when it’s standing still, like the TDF does.

    What chance do you think there is that this is just a testing body and the final production body will change?

    I don't like any of the 812 variants because the rear ends are grotesque. All of the F12's are better. Far better.

    We can be surprised on how Ferrari hides specific design features. Remember the side windows from the F12berlinetta, they were totally different on the F12tdf, even if the F12tdf mules had the windows from the F12berlinetta.
    Regarding the bumpers, it’s also possible that Ferrari added on the mules the final shape around the exhausts, but not the final shape of the rest of the bumper.

    I’m convinced we can really be surprised! (And I hope so as I also think that from this side view, the lower back bumper looks like a bulge.

    Yes in that this year's three new models will probably only be two as previously noted

    There should have been Portofino M, SF90 Spider and 812VS in 2020. But 812VS is postponed to 2021.

    That’s a shame but I guess it would make 2021 more exciting with 812VS and LB due along with an Icona I believe? But I might be wrong.

    Too many new models. For the first time in my life I can’t tell you what the current Ferrari models are. They are all a generic blur to me now.

    It's pretty much the same as the '90s
    F355 = F8
    TR = SF90
    456 = GTC4
    550 = 812
    F50 = Icona
    Mondial Coupe/Mondial Cab = Roma/Porto

    Great comparisons, but LaFerrari is the true successor to the F50 and Enzo, even though it's out of production.

    The Icona line is a new thing.
