Not sure if this has been shown before. Some don't care, but I think most 'car guys' do. It's nice to know some of the basics of your engine bay and mechanicals. For instance, where the hell is the air cleaner and how do you access it? jump to 3:45 (the rest of vid is a waste of time, no numbers, no results) .
Go to any car show and you see a lot of hoods (or rear hatch's) up showing off their engines. That won't be happening with the C8 convertible. The engine is completely covered. Here's a look underneath. https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2020/09/08/video-first-look-at-the-2020-corvette-convertibles-lt2-engine-bay/ So, in 10 years, you're selling your C8 vert to a guy and he says: "Can I see the engine?" and you say, no, it's covered. Guy: well how about at least from underneath? You: no, it's covered. (yes I know there are other cars are like this) Nothing like popping the hood and looking at a cool engine. .
Reminds me of that time my Porsche boxster caught on fire at the racetrack. The fire was out by the time the fire truck arrived, but they still wanted to see the engine to make sure. they were all really dismayed at how long it takes to get access to the motor on a Porsche boxster. That's a huge amount of plastic and rubber even for such a low base price. Guess it makes sense but what a shame.
The race version at Road America last month... That is a big snout for a mid engine car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not convinced the "Zero Damage Bumper Standard of 1976" is being enforced https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumper_(car)#Zero-damage_standards_1976
Make my z06 look like these two, especialy the flared out front end. Make it durable and with less synthetic electronics controlling than Macklane. Maybe 3000lbs or less wet and we have a deal. Dont tone it down, dont have all sorts of clever electronics so im left just pointing the car and adding allowable throttle, keep active aero and active shocks to a minimum or out the picture, tat keeps running costs down and weight down, durability up. Put all the "clever" electronic frippery and active aero etc on the Zr1, thats what its for.
Yeah that 5mph bumper rule was stupid. Only the 928 really made it work without being fugly and even then a USA spec esprit was 150lbs heavier. That works against c02. Modern bumpers seem to work just fine in the parking lot bumper car arena.
I can guarantee you right now it won't be 3000 lbs or less wet. I don't see how they could possibly cut 600 lbs out of the current car and still pass as a street car. According to Car and Driver, the C6 Z06 was only 141 lbs less than the base C6 Vette, and that included carbon fiber fenders and the aluminum frame.
And given that a quad cam Motor will weigh more than a abc it may be just as heavy as the current c8 base car. one can wish but yeah it’s likely to be heavy, too heavy

This is the equivalent of putting a sock in your shorts. For a while its impressive but when the truth is revealed its only embarrassing.
agreed But what the picture tells me is that visually the sock works. Or it’s no worse than the real thing from this angle. the paint job provides good comparative data in Terms of a picture. I always thought the c7 looked better than the f12 Not saying a c8 is better looking than a. F8 but the f8 is one of those rare cars that looks way better in a pic than in the flesh. As though it was designed ona screen from a certain vantage point and angle neither of which is natural for a standing person. unoriginal and a pastiche the c8 May be, it’s not bad from the front and fron3/4 view in pics
