Kent Goldy, one of our FChatters with a 575M, dug up this tech bulletin I had not seen before. The high speed launch is something I would not try, but the clutch saver software looks definitely worthwhile.

Taz thanks for this. I tried it for the first time today. I couldn’t remember where my assembly number fell but once in reverse I hit the downshift paddle and the gear indicator started flashing. My incline is relatively mild but enough that the car rocks around a little in normal reverse engaging and disengaging of a sort. With the slow reverse it seemed to have a more positive feel and easier to make the transition. Will definitely use it again.
Doubt I will be testing the launch control but cool to know it’s there.
Suspect your driveway will be the real test. Hope you get your car back soon.
    Best Regards,

Bill- Cannot drive right now after surgery, so no hurry on the 575M. Glad the software worked and I will definitely need it.

That LC method seems more controlled than the other method which murders tires and doesn't do much else.
Would be nice to control the launch around 3500rpm with that method.

I've not seen the bulletin before but I do recall mention of the 'half' gear - the information is the European owners handbook 1792/02 in March 2002 and the US 1838/02 Sep 02 (which has the 'launch' info blanked out)

dsd- You swap feet and use your right one on the clutch and your left one on the accelerator. Works wonders once you master it.

    Erik- The bulletin explains it.

Erik, no. 2 in the bulletin Taz posted runs through the process. Once those steps are done you set the throttle at the rpm you choose with your foot and then release the brake pedal. At least that’s the way I read it. I knew the Euro models had the option and possibly later US 575’s but didn’t realize my ‘02 may. At some point I’ll explore a little further.
