Well that 3 hour job went south fast. Discovered one cam lobe with 1mm of wear so it's got to be replaced. Supplier thinks hardening might not be up to spec, if so they'll swap it for a new one. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I really liked that version. That one, the red VH ones (did they call them group III or something?), and the red VLs were the best. Amazing how after all those years it’s still got the correct 11psi in the tyres.
For only one lobe to fail after such low mileage points to a hardening problem. Very happy I bought from a credible specialist rather than ebay.
IMKO the best of the Brock cars were the VC cars in auto form with the better gearbox . The ideal cars were the ones with 350 crank/rods (the strokers). in VC mode.. I'm always sceptical about barn finds ......this one the steering wheel wear ,pedal wear and the oddness of the digits on the speedo in relation to the kms suggested..
Will sell for close to that. Aussie muscle car prices have been really strong for the past few years, especially GT Falcons and SLR/ A9X Torana's. This sold in 10 days; https://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au/cars/1973-xa-gt-falcon-hardtop-rpo83-244205 Phase 3 GTHO's are 500K +, eg; https://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au/sold/1971-xy-gtho-falcon-phase-244169 or https://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au/sold/1977-lx-torana-a9x-hatchback-244134 The 495K for the A9X hatch is a bit surreal, because I passed on one for 20K in 1992 and bought a VC HDT Brock instead for 15K , oh well.
I always wanted an A9X hatch..years ago in east Hawthorn in an old factory ,Wayne Murphy kept the ex Janson A9X. Also there was a as new lightweight shell A9X hatch in white (early 1980s) Always wondered what happened to that car .Road car with the Lightweight shell so special.
I bought one of these off showroom floor I think $17k from memory #368 They could not sell them at the time. No wonder, they were not very special cars, my memory is fast taxi
I got the lifters out today, feels like the needle bearings have failed in the roller lifter for that valve. I've seen this in F5000 motors, but at much higher revs. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Previous ownner paid 20k for #386 in June 1981. Perhaps fast taxi, but in the era you had to spend a lot more to go faster in a 4dr saloon.
