How do you like the p7’s? Deciding on new tires and debating whether it’s worth the cost. Mechanic was gonna put Michelin pilot sports on it.
Well; some times people who are selling things know a bit about what they are selling, and genuinely want a customer to buy the best thing in the belief that if we encourage our customers to buy the best tyre for their car, after they have recovered from their credit card bill they will still have their car handling beautifully and will be happy to recomend our services. I would suggest that fitting a tyre with a carcass that is designed to be fitted to a chassis design such as yours will make the car handle at its best. It may be that i'm just saying that to flog tyres, however i think if you read this forum https://www.lamborghinichat.com/forum/threads/countach-tires-does-anyone-care.508651/ off of Lamborghini chat there are people on there who are really excited about the P7, and if you look a bit more into Harrys Garage (where our P7 film was made) you will find that Harry is over the moon having fitted the P7 to his car. He removed a later carcass design P-Zero, and the P7 just compliments an earlier super car better than a later carcass design. (and lets face it we all know that the Pirelli P-Zero is an epic tyre.) I am a big fan of Michelin. The Pilot Sport is great. Part of what you get fitting a top brand tyre such as Michelin Is outstanding build quality and the best compounds. You get all that with the P7, Pirelli are also one of the best tyre manufactureres who have exceptional build quality and the best compounds ( you do also get up to date technology as well) They look cool too. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the p7's are on back order for until October so now the question is Pzero rosso or michelin pilot sport
My old 1978 Euro 308 GTS 25125 as she came from the factory with 16" wheels, P7s, and 4 outlet exhaust. Rear view mirrors removed to improve my rubber-neck habits. 16" wheels were available as a regular production option on Euro and UK 308s. What’s the difference between the Pirelli cinturato p7 tyres available from long stone and the Pirelli cinturato p7 tyres available e.g. from kwik fit for 1/3rd of the price?
Actually, carbed "euro" GTSs were a pretty rare breed, as exactly 65% of the 3200 carbed GTSs produced went to the USA. I have to say that I am surprised by the 4-pipe exhaust; carbed "euro" GTSs got the single-pipe exhaust as standard, and today the single-pipe exhaust is still very much sought after as "the original one" for the carbed "euros" (be they GTBs or GTSs) Rgds
Hi There is no problem getting them in the US. You get them from Lucas Classic Tyres https://www.lucasclassictires.com/Pirelli-Cinturato_c54.htm I am aware that Tire Rack list them and say they are not available. But that only means they are not avaialble through Tire Rack. These specialist tyres are only available through specialist tyre distributers that are listed on here https://www.cinturato.net/classic-tyre-suppliers.html (check out the ace film on the home page if you like an e-type Jaguars and drink driving truck drivers). You can also find the distributers on Pirelli's web site https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/car/collection When distributing weird obsolete small production tyres like this they need to be distributed by people who understand what they are selling, and stocked in just a few places to stop old stock tyres floating around in the system and ending up stuck in he back of some obscure tyre shed somewhere. we need to try to make this obscure business pay for t he likes of Michelin or Pirelli or they just won't bother.
I took Dougal's advice and bought the retro Pirelli P7's. Best tyre I have had fitted on my 328 and would only replace them with the OEM Goodyear Eagles should they ever become available again. View attachment 108039
They were the OE for the 16" option rims for all 308 here in Europe. 328 had also different tyres, but not the 308 Ciao
It is a little varied. However predominently they are made in Turkey in t he same factory that they make their F1 tyres. There is some confusion currently being created in the US by the tires being listed by Tire rack. and then of course listed as not available. These are specialist classic tyres and not distributed by the likes of tire rack. to keep your stock fresh they are distributed by specialists around the world such as Longstone. However if you look on this Pirelli web page it will list your official dealer. https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/car/collection
Agree, it's just that my original spare still in the car, tyre inflation sticker and owners manual all state the OEM tyre for my car is the Goodyear NCT Eagle. And you know I'm a sucker for originality.

I don’t think I like the look of the 14” tyres you took off so it makes for an unfair comparison. But Can I ask what differences are you noticing in the drive of the car? and what do you prefer?
I prefer the 16’s. Fill the wheel wells better- the front doesn’t look like its riding high when it loose the space.. Feels better planted to the road in the corners and just a more solid ride. Running 225 all around, although the rear wheels are wider. The repo rear wider wheels don’t properly look the same as the real ones...
Can i ask why you went for the larger fronts? ferrari themselves dropped the front tyre size when they moved to 16" wheels. I'm going to make a guess now on why Ferrari maight have gone down to a smaller front tyre compared to the rear: a smaller front tyre would make the turn in a little quicker and more precise. it could be that the same front and rear tyres may have been a bit oversteerey (that isn't a proper word is it), fitting a smaller front may have made it a bit more balanced. Just guessing. I can only imagine Ferrari did loads of testing with some nerdy test driver, (a bit like the Stig). I have been in a car with a couple of these test drivers, it is incredible how sesnsative these guys are to little subtleties that i don't even notice.
Neofer- Rear view and with the panel work for the 4 pipe exhaust, not the single pipe. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I didn’t think too much about it at the time. Except that since the wider repro rims set back on the outside is the same as the fronts, a narrower front tire may or would look odd. Didn’t have the option to test before buying... Figured that the since the 14’s had the same size all around... When its time to replace, I may go to 205’s on the front.... but I would like to find a correct set of at least the wider rears wheels first.
