Looks like darn near perfect color for a GTE (or any Ferrari of the same era).

Superb, absolutely superb! Congratulations. Look at these super elegant lines.
    A Pininfarina design masterpiece.
And Grigio Scuro MM 13420 suits it very well.

Grigio scuro is a very classy gray, but this grigio elevates the car.

Grigio Scuro was the original colour of 2837 GT.

Marcel has provided me with a photo of the car from the 1981Raid D'Epoca in which it is still wearing the original Grigio Scuro MM134 20.
The current colour is close to, but not, Grigio Fumo.
In 1987 the car passed into the ownership of well known collector Umberto Camellini.
He had the car restored and repainted in Modena in 1988.
The interior was nicely re-trimmed to match the original 3218 Vecchio hide, and a new lighter metallic grey applied.
Out of respect to Mr Camellini, let us call it 'Grigio Umberto'

The colour, whilst 'incorrect', seems to be universally liked and is oft commented upon.
The paint is showing minor cracking (only visible in certain lights) so one day, I may have the it re-done.

My choices would then be between Grigio Scuro, Grigio Fumo, or the restoration of Grigio Umberto.

For now it will stay as is, with patina and its own 59 year history.

When I purchased 4959 (RIP) in early 1981 for $7000, it had a poorly done silver respray on the body and instrument panel. The interior window moldings, however, were a darker gray which I felt was a much better color for these larger, 'gentleman's tourer' Ferraris. I have always wondered if that was the original color. I miss that car.

4959 GT was originally painted Grigio Fumo 20294 A Italver (smoke grey) with Rosso VM 3171 Connolly leather.
It was last seen 28 January 2016 at the Russo & Steele auction in Scottsdale/AZ, painted rosso rubino with a tan interior.

Thank you, Marcel. It also, unfortunately, has a Chevrolet engine, the original engine last seen in New York under the hood of a poor copy of a California.

This is 3609GT which I bought in the late 80's in Caracas. I took it home with me to Germany in 1990 by airfreight. It has not disappeared. It's alive and has been part of my classic car collection since then.

Great to hear from you and to hear that this GTE is still alive! We would love to see some photos. Thanks for preserving this car.

    Tom,

Beautiful car. I may have seen it a few years ago in Monterey when we were out seeing our daughter, and going to the Pebble activities, and Laguna Seca. It was parked on boardwalk, at a japanese hibachi style restaurant.

Could be! I had it there in 2015, though incomplete. I had to borrow an engine to get it there!

Well perhaps better those on it for high speed/competition use than ruin a set of $12-15K Borrani's in the event of a situation going pearshaped IMO.

Fantastic to see those side by side. I like the full covered taillights better, but would not say no to either one of those beautiful cars.
