So after a few weeks of not driving (and yes I had the battery tender hooked up) I decided to take it to work yesterday. TPMS went on so I added air to the fronts and it did not help that error Also getting the TRIANGLE error saying SYSTEM NOT PROGRAMMED I disconnected the negative on the batter overnight and this morning reconnected it still no help The car runs and drives normally Here are the things that I noticed are malfunctioning 1. TPMS light on and not calibrating 2. Right screen only on speedometer, no nav, no radio etc 3. Right side controls do not work and the backlights for them are not even on (radio, nav controls) 4. Hood and fuel release buttons not functioning
You need to take the car to the dealership so they can properly diagnose the issue. It sounds like you have a low battery voltage issue may need to have the battery replaced. The car may have lost its programming, and will need a proxi alignment.
If you clear all faults, the dealer will not be able to see potential problems when they scan with their equipment. An OBDII will not be as comprehensive as dealer equipment. Clearing faults with the OBDII fixes nothing.
Where in the owners manual does it recommend that you disconnect the battery to fix any issue with the car? Nowhere! Because this is one of the stupidest things that you can do when a car has electrical faults. You have just erased any of the information/fault codes that were stored in the myriad of ecus in the car that the dealership would download in order to properly diagnose the issue. Fortunately, it sounds like you still have the same problems occurring, so the fault codes will be present to diagnose the issue. Do not disconnect the battery again. An OBDII reader only reads very specific emissions related codes and will not help you at all with this problem. Take it to the dealership or someone with a very good Ferrari diagnostic computer in order to have it properly diagnosed.
I had this problem with my 458 spider and found the battery wasn't charged...drove the car and the nasty triangle went away...I didn't have the sceen issues your having, but my bonnet button stopped working...
Here's the answer ..... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/luggage-compartment-lid-wont-open-on-a-2013-italia.534009/#post-144956393
Sounds like to me you have low battery voltage. Get a new battery. Then do the relearn for the locks as described above. I just went through the same thing. It will take you 5 minutes to change the battery.
Hallo bonnet button start working if you close the car with key (aktiv alarm )and Open the car with key
As others have mentioned, you probably just need a fresh battery. I used to have this issue quite a bit, until I installed a Braille lithium ion battery, due to the car sitting and the voltage being too low on the OEM battery. The system not programmed thing will resolve itself typically, once the battery is providing the proper voltage at all times. Check the manual (page 199 on) as far as the re-connect procedure for a new battery, as there is a specific number of steps you need to perform after reconnecting the power to the car (and these will probably clear up the additional items on your list). With regard to the speedo position on the dash, that's a user configurable setting with the controls in the menu. Ray
If you don't have enough voltage to release the front bonnet, it is more than likely a battery problem. When a battery gets too old, after 4 years in use, it no longer keeps its charge properly even with the tender. You may avoid all that expense of diagnostics at the dealer by replacing the battery first. An AGM battery is only about $300. Braille's lithium ion batteries are even better at about $1200 and you get to save 40 lbs. Come to think of it, why doesn't the car give a much more strict forward message like "Warning: battery low voltage" instead of the myriad of 'scary' error messages none of which points directly to low voltage? After owning a 458 for a few years, I can certainly conclude that the OEM battery and software management of power, along with the sticky buttons are the worst flaws of the otherwise almost perfect car. Ferrari should have gone with lithium ion batteries years ago like all other high end sports car manufacturers.
The front bonnet doesn't open because the alarm system has not been initialized. After disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, you must lock/unlock the car with the remote. Then the bonnet release will work.
So what was the final result on this issue? I am currently having the same issues after a battery replacement and the dealer is telling me they will need to replace the radio module at $3500.
I am having the same issue and was wondering if you ended up getting the said module replaced. There is one module next to the head unit called a NIT CANBOX with part# 252992. The other main component would be the actual unit that contains the CD changer (part numbers vary based on options). I am trying the less expensive of the two parts first (NIT CANBOX) which is just under $1,000 from Scuderiacarparts. I sent them the VIN for my car and it will be programmed for a plug and play installation. My concern is, I can not eject a disc by pressing the eject button and don't know if it is because the CANBOX or if it is going to end up being the main unit. With you having no radio, phone, navi, etc being displayed on your right screen and your radio not functioning, were you still able to eject any loaded disc? Thanks for any info you might have, to help me locate the problem.
Heat and/or Brandon, Did you ever resolve this problem? I have the same issue on my F12 and the dealer is telling me I "probably" need a new NIT at about $15k installed. I too bought a CANbox module to try that first, but it seems I will need a proxi alignment which I'm not sure how to do without a Leonardo or SD3. I'm curious if you ever found the source of your issue?
My problem was also the main NIT unit. There are several different models and mine was discontinued, but I was lucky to find a used unit on eBay with the exact same model number. I plugged it in and everything is working fine again. I was going to have original unit repaired by Opuradio but they wanted a $500 payment up front, the unit disassembled and shipped to China, then pay to ship back to the USA. I asked for the shipping address and they never responded so I wrote it off. If you know the model number (it’s on the label on top of the unit) you might check with Ritesh @ scuderia car parts ([email protected] is his email address) and see if he can order you one. (Tell him I referred you to him, I get all of my parts from him and he’s great to deal with). He might even be able to look up which unit you need, with your VIN, but I can’t confirm that. If you can’t get a new one, your only option is a used unit, because they are no longer being made by Harman/Becker and no Harman/Becker repair facilities in the USA will service these units. (I called every single one of them) I asked Ritesh to talk with Ferrari about what their solution is for when these go out, since they’re discontinued, but he wasn’t able to provide me with an answer. If you find one, they’re not very hard to install, the most time consuming part is taking out the glovebox.
In response to your NIT canbox, when I ordered one, I provided my VIN and it would’ve been plug and play, no programming needed, but my canbox was fine so I never installed it. I spent $1000 on it and have no use for it.
