Not sure why but I get a tingly feeling in the naughty zone when I look at this picture
Is it just me or do I need to increase my meds :)

I had a 1997 355 with Capristo, straight pipes and no cats. Absolutely screamed and howled! Highly recommended!

Is there a big difference in sound between hyperflow cats and test pipes?

I've always wondered this myself as the difference between stock cats and Hyperflows is huge. My car with a Cap 3 sounds about 2/3 as loud with stocks on.

I personally know a Berlinetta owner/Fchatter here in the Bay Area who runs straight pipes, but I've never heard his car.

Awesome guy with balls of steel to do that around all these Prius drivers! :)

Go for stock headers, tubi or any brand test pipes and capristo level 2. Pure F1 bliss. I've also got the forza componenti remote valve controller. works like a dream :D

This. Or tubi (or another 4-2-1 design).
The Fabspeed 4-1 headers will cause you to LOSE the high-pitched Shreik you are seeking.

Forget everything, if you want an amazing sound, get the Capristo racing version single valve exhaust, that's my setup. I will have a sound clip in the next couple weeks.

Just picked up some tubi test pipes, so I'll be running Tubi Headers, Tubi Test Pipes and Nouvalari Super Sport. I'll let you know how it sounds.

Do I need a bypass controller?

What if - and bare with me here - the entire primary cat route were to be deleted, headers -> Y-pipe -> Challenge-style exhaust without the connections from the primary cats? I suspect that should still net the F1-shriek we all know and love while keeping heat, weight, and cost down to a minimum. Was thinking of going that route myself...

It will sound amazing. I have stock headers, high flow cats, and Nouvalari myself.
I don't think you need a bypass controller as long as the stock valve is in good working order.

I purchased the Kreissieg F1 system after viewing this and other Kreissieg F355 Youtube videos over and over:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm8nCdHTCBA

The Youtube video of my car is bad but the audio is decent.
Search for "F355 Kreissieg Catback Exhaust" or "Gregg608".

    Good luck with your search.

According to this video, there doesn't seem to be much difference in pitch between the stock 4-2-1 headers and aftermarket 4-1 headers. If anything the 4-1 headers sound even higher pitched than the stockers. I never really understood why 4-2-1s supposedly had a higher pitch than 4-1s anyway...

Eric. You had a 95 correct?

So what’s your take on Tubi headers/straight pipe/Nouvalari muffler vs Tubi headers/straight pipe/Capristo muffler ??

I recall you telling me it was a night and day difference.

I got the capristo from you right?

Oh man. It was completely different. The NVARI had a pretty muffled / generic sound. The Capristo had a very crisp sound. The note was perfection all through the rpm. I actually had a 97

Yes indeed you did. It was the very first generation Capristo muffler. I’ve never seen another one since. Probably went through the crusher lol by now. Ever find out if your car was fixed and sold?

430 suits you man. You’re way too big for a 355 lol.
