Not sure where you live, but Kelly's Block Welding in Los Angeles has been recommended in the past.

Ok awesome I will look them up.

I am not sure if I will sell as is, or try to fix first. Not sure which way matters or makes sense anyway.

Been there and done that with a freshly-rebuilt motor.

    Definitely repairable, IMO.

Where are you located? I know two different people in the Portland, OR area who are extremely talented at welding cast aluminum. One is a cylinder head shop...the other is a "retired" guy. Both do things that others claim is impossible.

    I'm in CT.

I was going to repair this first too, but have an interested gent who says he's going to rebuild it completely anyway, but I'm not sure my engine guy in mind does heads. He probably does and I should ask.

John Hadjuk (is he still active?) was highly recommended by a friend here too.

    Nice grenade eh? :)

John Hajduk passed away about three years ago. Nice man. He did a lot of work for me in the 1974-90 era. His son Larry has tried to carry on, but not sure if he is still in business.

In northern CA we go to Dennis Echeverry. If he can't weld it, it is most likely not weldable.

Just to qualify Echeverry's work, my engine sump had quite a few broken/missing cooling fins. He welded on and sculpted new fins to perfection. Your job is similar, in that it's the same kind of casting; the same kind of aged contamination.

sorry, it is not so similar. there is the valveseat that must be certain exact accuracy. so without any air bubbles inside. also as I see the damaged part is open to the water channel in the head. so when you weld this then you also have to let argon gas in those water channel that there comes no airbubbles into the aluminum from behind. also you have to warm the cylinder head before welding otherwise the complete head will get warped. so best would be to tighten the head on a thick metal plate and fix it with the valve cover bolts on this plate. put all in a pizza oven at your italian friend ( when he knows for a ferrari he will agree to put the head into his oven :) ) and warm all until it has minimum 200 °C. then it is easy to weld. also let cool down slowly again in the oven.
