Interesting video relating to production numbers, Pistas / F8's and Ferrari's move towards producing more cars in the future:

He knows a lot, particularly about the UK market, but he says the F8 is better than the Pista in every way and this is just flat out untrue.

I guess it just depends on how you value a car. To me, the Pista and F8 seem very similar. I think the Pista looks better, but from a performance standpoint, I wonder how big a difference there is?

they’re close, but Pista is undeniably quicker. Here is a good video showing the difference. But again, close. Pista is lighter and has more aggressive gearing.

Isn't the F8 lap time at Fiorano only 1 second slower than that of the Pista? That's not much of an edge.

Although I agree in principal that Ferrari marketing strategy has changed and more quantities of special branded are being produced, market conditions in UK or Europe do not reflect trends in the U.S

He didn't elaborate his reasoning behind that statement but I suspect "better car" was being based generally upon F8 being the latest of the 488 series, having the cheaper price and, having similar performance stats as Pista. But overall, I found what he said in his video spot on along with his personal assessment of the 3 cars (Pista, Gt2 and SVJ). He didn't miss a trick there really. His choice between the 3 cars boiled down to personal suitability but made no bones about which of the 3 drove the better and I agree with him 100% being owner of two of those cars in question (GT2 and Pista). Also agree with him on the gen 2 GT3rs non WP being the pick of the 991 GT3 cars.

he’s the UK expert. Puts his money where his mouth is and always has.

  11. A second at a circuit like Fiorano is an eternity.

For example, 1.5 seconds separates the 458 and the Speciale.

Agree. Not sure how the digging of dirt or personal dislikes over his personality is relevant. He clearly knows the products and the game he’s in which is all that should really matter here.

the weight difference isn't actually much, but it certainly doesn't help the f8 that the pista in this video doesn't have a passenger

Very true. Also fuel load affects performance in these cars. If I’m not mistaken, the cars can take on about 80 liters (more than 17 US gallons) of fuel.

That amount of fuel is bound to weigh a lot. If a car has 10 liters on board and fuel light on, and the other is on a full tank of fuel and a passenger onboard, that will certainly show in terms of acceleration.

Options too: a standard, bare to the bone car versus a car will all the carbon fiber extra equipment on board will also account for changes in performance (the seats being the heaviest component).

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

So a successful operator in the industry puts up his findings on the products he's been selling for a living, mentions a few home truths about Ferrari and gets his character assassinated by a few here. Tough crowd.

PS. And just because he got busted speeding on a public rd - big deal. At least he likes driving fast which only further adds to qualifying his own thoughts on how the cars drive. But I guess as no one here has ever broken the speed limit on a public rd confirms this dude is just a very bad man.
