I have a new to me Ferrari 308GT4 that is currently white with red interior. I have taken the car apart... bumpers, interior, door panels, etc. and haven't found any obvious signs of the original color. I took a sander and sanded back behind where the rear bumper resides and this is the result. Not sure what I am looking at here. In the small spot you can see bare metal, followed by yellow which I assume is primer, and after that I get confused.

Don't quote me, but the green looks like a modern etching primer and the yellow is a high build. then grey primer and a coat of white...

...then...seemingly another full prime and paint respray.

Yep, Steve called it..that's factory paint, white, and then a prime and respray in white, to my eye..

We talk about Zinc Chromate a lot in the wheel finishing, it's that shade of green

I'd take a closer look on the inside of the doors. I also find my cars' original colors on the undercarriage - there's some bendable tabs holding brake lines and wiring harness in place that are painted black, but under that black paint is original color paint.

I'll keep digging. I'll look in the doors again and check those tabs. Steve and BigTex, thanks for helping me figure out what I was looking at there.

IIRC, you can ping ferraris website with the SN and get that info.
