John Heim at Patrick Otis in Berkeley is working on my car trying to solve a ECU problem. P1102 is showing up and neither he nor I have been able to find a cause.

John believes the code is lodged in the left bank ECU but we can't definitely prove it.

What I need is another 550 preferably a 2000 to swap ECU's with.

John would put both my ECU's in the other car and see if they show the code. Since he is putting both of my ECU's in the other car there is no chance of the other car's ECU's being damaged.

The whole procedure would take a few hours probably.

Anyone with a 550 willing to help?

What’s the symptom? Did you check fuel pressures on both sides?

Root very graciously offered to help. With his help John Heim has shown that the left Motronic ECU is corrupt by putting my ECU's in Root's car and the code came up.
I will have Rod Drew re-flash it next week then we'll see what happens.

Thank you so much Riadh. :)

No problem Dave. Was a pleasure meeting you. Glad John Heim was able to identify the problem. Hope everything works out for you.

What a fantastic example of what an "enthusiast" group should be all about with the "assist"! Loving all I've been learning here across the various posts/threads. Thanks for sharing.

After proving that one of my ECU's was, in fact, corrupted, I sent both ECU's to Rod Drew at Francorchamps in Southern California for checking and possible re-flash as needed. ( Rod has the hex code for the ECU's so it's a re-flash as opposed to a cloning)
Upon opening my left ECU's he found a wire related to the O2 sensor heater circuit had come un soldered from the circuit board. He re-soldered it and did two test in another 550 he had in the shop. Testing showed no codes present so it was not necessary to re-flash my ECU's

I sent the ECU's last Monday and expect them back this Monday, great turn around :)

When I get them on Monday I will install and test to see if I can get all the readiness monitors to complete. Then I'll be smog legal once again.:D

Once again a big thanks to Root for helping a fellow Maranello owner out :):)

He has been around for decades. One day he will retire. I hope he has an apprentice. He is a Ferrari treasure.
