No and off topic, plus one Khamsin is better, immensely more livable, all K's have dry sumps contrary to the toy from Sant'Agata of which only a handful have it. Back on topic: I am heading to the Auto & Moto d'epoca show in Padova and hope to see at least one Khamsin there, usually the case.
We're talking about a guy who attended a porn star boot camp so there's that ... Does any guy think he needs training for that? OK possibly Jeffrey Toobin ...
Interesting front vent colour contrast. Red is not my fave on these.. but it looks slick for sure... Need that bumper shine to be removed or resprayed to a matt finish. It would look more ”rubber-like".. very tidy car from this angle! Have fun Marc!
Am having fun...and a break, huge show. 1028 has been discussed here before, use the search function.
Hello, What are Khamsin owners experiences with the standard fuse box ? Any problems with heat ? I am putting 393 back together, but another owner who has given me a lot of help has trouble with very hot fuses almost melting the box, even though the measured currents don't seem excessive. I don't want to build in future problems. Thanks, Neil.
If the current is not excessive and the fuse is getting hot then the problem is the connection between the fuse the the fuse box terminals. Put a new fuse and clean the fuse box contacts. Also check that the fuse fits nice and tight, bend the prongs if needed to create the proper tension. A little dielectric grease on the fuse also helps. Ivan
Agree with Ivan.. the grease helps... I have often thought about changing the hole fuse panel out with a current design for new style fuses... But so far only one or two fuses have ever caused a little stress. I know some have used removable mechanical force on this style to keep the prongs tighter. Good luck Oh. And be sure to use fuses with the same metal composition of you can...my old Volvo used to corrode the heck out of fuses if not r

It appears our very own Ivan has just won the Bring a trailer auction for AM120US1284, if so bravo Ivan https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-maserati-khamsin/
If you mean the very last one made, chronologically, it is AM120-439 in South Africa. If you mean the last number highest number...it is never simple, we are dealing with Maserati after all, not Toyota or VW. US chassis numbers went up to AM120US1308...then no numbers were allocated until AM120US1330, the very last US car, white, new to California with red leather. When I asked Cozza why in the 2005 we did specifically about this he had no answer. Perhaps 1330 was a fetish number for a VIP, who knows. 1284 is a very late car in any case. Euro left hand drive numbers went all the way up to AM120-406. For RHD cars the highest number was AM120-445. But 439 is the last built chronologically, in May of 1982.
And I believe there was one LHD EURO car with a higher number than 406, number 504? https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/16508/lot/180/
Are there secrets to unbolting and removing the Khamsin's driver's seat? The sliding adjustment that sits atop the up/down brackets is not sliding rearward enough to expose my railings' two front screws.. Grazie, - Art
Don't forget to be careful with the hydraulic seat adjustment system when removing it... again not my specialty but tech experts will chime in.
Thank you, ..I hope so.. I believe the problem I'm having is related to that: - The seat has been lowered to the floor. I think that alone is preventing full front-back movement of the seat to access the screws. - The up/down hydraulic adjustment switch is not functioning, so I can't bring it up with hydraulic power. - The piston is connected. - I have tried lifting the seat and scissor brackets up "manually" but it is just not going anywhere.. (I was hoping I could move the seat, let the hydraulic fluid flow through the piston leaving it connected). I am carefully disconnecting various bolts to see what mobility it gives me.. but not making much progress. Grazie, - Art
I believe you are correct! Congratulations Ivan!! I put in some early bids but bowed out gracefully when the serious action started.
Ivan really stole it at that price (117000US$), I am very surprised the sellers let it go at that low a reserve, that car was worth about 150K US if the condition of the entrails is as good as that of the feathers.

Hello Art, I may have a couple of the items you nee - please send me an e-mail. I also had trouble with the seat runners. They have two central rollers which takes the weight, and either side of these are two sets of two steel balls, which stabilise things. These steel balls should be separated by a dimple pressed into the centre of the runners themselves. These dimples get flattened, which lets the balls get the wrong side of them, then when you try and move the runner back, it resists the movement. The way I fixed it, was to hammer the runners back so you can get them out of the car, then disassemble them, build up the dimples with weld and re-assemble them. Sounds easy but is a PITA. Neil.
