Tactician? Seems like the pitwall directs most things nowadays. Proof is bottas wasn’t allowed to put the softs hé wanted.Tyre management is all him though that’s for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Races and even championships have been won by drivers who didn't have the best car, but superior racecraft, better strategy and good team work.
Probably not! Hamilton is the best driver on his team for sure. Wouldn’t it be nice to see Max or Charles as a teammate though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Charles did a decent job getting back what the rain cost him. Once they put Charles on hards, it was a challenge just to not lose ground to those behind him. No SC: So many lapped cars, everyone had traffic. Give Max credit: he got, what, 42 laps out of those mediums? I kept expecting to see his pace fall off, but it didn't happen.
Yes, when the gap between top cars was max. 0.300 sec. Not 1 second per lap like it is now. No amount of tactics could have beaten McLaren in 88', Williams in 92' and Merc now, the pace gap is just too much. I'll quote a comment from Lewis' boss (Toto) made during this summer: "Without Lewis, the Merc would still keep on winning".
Sadly not but f1 would be better off with say 3 driver per team and less teams. Keep Merc, Red Bull, racing point, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault alpha tauri. Could be more fun. Although today had some moments of fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There should be a negative incentive clause in Seb's contract: For every position behind his team mate he should pay back some $
If I was to gamble on the next best driver post-Hamilton, I would chose Leclerc. I think he is a more finished article than Verstappen. Time will tell ...
That’s Hamilton’s motto that being said who is the last world champion Winning on a car that wasn’t meant to win it all. Raikonnen 07? Schumacher 94? Hamilton 08? Id go with 94 but up for debate! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would say Prost 1986, Senna 1991 and Schumi 2000. Not champions but Hamilton 2007 and Alonso 2012 were just fantastics years.
Different types of drivers but both effective. Both are still learning and maturing too. If I had to, I’d probably tip Max because he’s more of a bully. However, Charles ability to listen to the car and take what it gives certainly is an edge. A Prost-like approach is conducive to winning.
Good calls. Agree on all. much more difficult to win with a lesser car due to absurd reliability these days.
That's why I selected Leclerc. Prost is still the benchmark for me; he was a thinking driver. He managed to turn situations to his advantage, and win against the odds. Verstappen is more like Senna was: naturally talented, but instinctive.
Lewis 262 races and 92 wins, Prost and Senna combined 360 races and 92 wins. Micheal 307 races and 91 wins. Lewis needs another few seasons to catch up to his compition in total races before we can judge hiswin stats.
How many years in the best car? That’s what your stats don’t tell and are although accurate manipulative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Years in best car is not a stat, sort of like being jelious that your neighbor works for a better company than you do. It’s a perk of people making good choices. Not a negative its THE key skill for a race driver.
