And apparently a Shell station no less.

I think it would interesting to know what was the “problem” or symptoms and what, if anything, were they able to do about it and/or did they had to consult Göteborg, Stockholm or Maranello for advise or parts, etc.
Not to mention thoughts R.R. had when the symptoms first appeared and/or persisted...

Thanks for your replies. Did the 0456AM ever have a split front window/windshield and a "wind deflector" on the bonnet? The picture is dated 24 March 1955 and place is Helsingborg, the port of entry to Sweden coming from Denmark, if he (Rossellini) was entering (or leaving) Sweden. It is far from Stockholm.

I think you are seeing a reflection in the windscreen - note the highlights, and not a bar splitting the glass. Y Image Unavailable, Please Login es, at one point there was a deflector on the bonnet. There was no deflector in the Pinin Farina studio photos or as presented at motor show. This period photo is not mine, just found at some point online, do not know to whom to attribute.

Sorry about photo position, try again. I think you are seeing a reflection in the windscreen - note the highlights, and not a bar splitting the glass. I see it. Yes, a reflection it is. And that deflector is on, so 0456AM it must be. Thanks to you.

I also wondered about the "split" window at first but then considered it to be the reflection of a neon light lamp on the ceiling of the garage.

    Greetings, Mick

två stycken tändstift på putsaren, brett leende på ansiktet, verkar inte vara så där himla alvarligt.

    Hi,

Ahhh, the days when you could get service or help at gas stations! Today if you can find mineral oil or ATF you are very lucky.

Looks more like they are just admiring the engine. :) Although I am sure he did get help there and drove back to Italy just fine.

    Cheers.

I like people who drive Ferraris, Maseratis etc across Europe on really long trips, when in Stockholm once I saw a 456 with Monaco plates and it was Christmas time with lots of snow around; I thought good for you:) Of course to do it in the era of Rossellini was epic.

I can imagine on snowy roads and those tires, plus rear wheel drive and all that horsepower, what a handful this car would have been.
