I have seen them done that way by owners too. Not aware of any aftermarket parts but painting or even anodizing is quite simple.

I met a tall guy with a 328 GTS and 308 GTB and he never took the top off because he did not have room behind the seat to store it!

Years ago when I owned my first Ferrari (an 85 308 GTSi quattrovalvole) I always put the top in my house when it was removed, never behind the seats.

Still, I always wanted an 89 GTB and I was fortunate to find the right car. They aren’t easy to come by, particularly excellent examples.

While I LOVE the looks of my Ferraris, I bought them to drive them, not to look at them.

I live in Nor Cal, where we get a generous amount of sun, and we have beautiful coastlines.

And, no, I don't want to race my cars or do super high-performance driving. Let's face it, by today's standards, neither variant is "high performance." I enjoy spirited drives to the coast or up to the Golden Gate bridge or other beautiful Nor Cal landmarks.

So, for me, it was a no-brainer: I bought a 308 GTS QV. I love going up and down the coast with the top off.

I also bought a Mondial 3.2 Cab, for exactly the same reason.

I just spent a few days vacationing in your area with my girlfriend and I can imagine the very things you’re describing. Magnificent part of the country and a superb place to own a Ferrari. Enjoy.

At risk of defending a bureaucracy, we had a smog problem and we fixed it. It should be less of an obstacle course but its straightforward if your car is properly tuned (... he says having just passed and not having to worry about it again until 2021).

Ironically, California has no mandatory safety inspections. No need for properly aimed headlights here! ;)

I was thinking of the Euro situation - for example, I wouldn't be able to move to Cali and bring my car with me.

Sorry, I know I'm drifting towards off-topic ... and P&R - not really my intention.

Well that would be a relief, as my headlights act more like marker lights for other motorists instead of a nightime driving aid for me. ;)

IMO it's nice to have an open air driving experience in an analog Ferrari weekend car (that also has some rollover protection)...

my 308GTB was great but my 328GTS is absolutely more fun thanks to driving open and the car is in 99% of all cases driven with dry and good weather conditions. Of course a GTB is stiffer (but not a lot) but these cars are not high performance cars any more.
Is a GTB more beautiful: yes.
