    Hi,

My HVAC controls are not responding. When I change any of the driver side knobs the AUTO light flashes but stays on. It's like it is stuck on AUTO. The passenger knob AUTO light is off but it is acting like it is on AUTO.

Anyone else have problems similar to this? I'll post a video of what I mean so it is clear when I drive it again.

    Thanks,
    Son

The whole unit pops out very easily and has 2 harnesses connected to the back. You might try taking it out, reseating the harnesses and putting it back in.

You can grab it with your hands and pull towards you. I’m not saying this is a solution, but I did have some buttons acting funny after I cleaned it and reseating the harnesses helped with my issue.

I pulled it out, disconnected the 2 harness cables and reconnected them. Still the same problem. I then pulled it out and stuck the unit into another California and that car had the same problem. So I have a bad unit, found one on eBay that I ordered. Will report back. Thanks.

I'm not sure how accessible the inside is but you might try spraying it down with some electrical contact cleaner. I used one made for aircraft on a circuit board for a Porsche 993 years ago and it solved some weird problems.

Thanks vjd3, I will try that.

So I was able to get my hands on a panel from a 2009 California today and I put it in and all of the buttons works as they should. However, the AC won't blow cold air even though the AC button turns on and off as it should. I put my old one back in and it does blow cold air even though some of the buttons don't work. Now the part numbers on the back are different so maybe that's it. I should receive the one I ordered this Friday which is an exact part number match and from a 2012 California which is what I have.

    I'll keep you guys updated.

    Thanks!

Received the part today from another 2012 California. It works! Needs to be programmed at the dealer and I need to get the sticky buttons removed again but it works.

Anyone have any advice on removing the sticky layer? I don’t really care that it be returned to the factory matte look, the detailer I used before was able to scrape it off and it just looked shiny. But I think that was what broke it, they probably sprayed it with something that shorted the board.

    Thanks everyone.

Son. Report back to see if AC still function after Googone. Looks good. My 11 is sticky too.

I used a BUNCH of Q-Tips to apply the goo gone on the buttons and then clean ones to remove it. I kind of swirled the Q-Tip and just removed it... Took forever but it worked. I wanted to be very careful to not have any of the solution go into the cracks around the buttons. On the wider surfaces I used microfiber towels.
