All, I recently acquired a 9500 mile 2008 599 in excellent condition, appears to have been well preserved. I am however observing that the carbon brakes are really underwhelming even after heated up...as in I think less bite than my 612 and 550 with steel brakes. The braking is nothing like the CCM on my 488 Spider. The pedal feel in normal driving is fine but it really doesn’t seem to bite very hard when I really ask for it. I’ve looked for more discussion on this using the search function but I’m not finding much. Should I expect a CCM-equipped to 599 to have really impressive bite or could I somehow have excessive wear on my otherwise lightly used, low mileage car? Any feedback on this would be appreciated. You should expect the brakes to be powerful, smooth, and progressive. There is very little effort in slowing the car from 140+. If that isn't happening, you probably have some other issue.
My first inclination would be to have the brakes power bled with new fluid and see if that helps. 599 brakes should just about pull the fillings out of your teeth. Old, hard tires, especially Pirellis, can also be responsible for what feels like a brake issue.
The braking performance of the 599 GTB equipped with the CCM discs is limited because of the tires. The front tires are quite narrow, concerning the weight and layout of the car. Also the original Pirelli tires Ferrari used for the 599 GTB are not compareable with some more modern or performance tires. Its should be easily possible to hit the ABS. My 599 has stainless steel brake hoses. The brake feeling is fine, pedal is hard, there is bite and response behaviour is not on comfort side! The discs show some wear, pads are quite new. So I would check the brake hoses. The first 599 getting 14 years old!!!

I will stick to the topic in terms of the life of the discs. How many kilometers / miles do such shields last and whether they are also replaced due to age (I heard that it is max 8 years old), best regards.
I also have a question about the CCM brakes. When the car is lifted, can you rotate the wheel absolute free without resistance ? Or does the wheel have a kind of break resistance ? When i push the wheel to rotate it, it stops directly. So the pads have contact everytime? Is this normal ? Daniel
OK And what to do, to solve the problem ? The car got complete new brakes (all 4 discs and all pads) at 35.500 km, it was guarantee. Now I have 48.000 Km. It was there since I bought the car with 38.000 Km in 2015. Daniel
it may not be the brakes, it could be the hub. Its quite easy to burn through a set of CCM's depending on how hard you ride them and how many track days the car has done.
Does running cst off stop some wear on track days? I know on m cars mdm mode would chew the rear brakes
Rotating wheels always have some resistance from the wheel bearing and brakes. Not unusual. Last time I worked with a really free-rotating wheel was on an old Corvette with drum brakes.
