Those who do their own wrench turning on your F cars, I applaud you! I've always done my own work on my cars and trucks but have never worked on an exotic before.

What are some tools you wish you had bought or had on hand when you purchased your F430?

Some additional questions, but what size hex socket are the wheel studs?
From what I have seen in videos, its a 10mm hex socket for the oil drain plug as well as the under tray bolts, and a 19mm for the large plug? Is that correct?

Other than bleeding the F1 fluid from the actuator, is there any other reason to have a Launch x431?

I just like to have all the tools I need handy so I don't get into a bind if doing a project. Thanks so much!!

Do you have a 3” aluminum wheel bolt guide? To help mount wheels.

a spreader to screw in the parking brake pistons while you squeeze at same time. I use my Invicta
    Tool.

I have most of what I need. I will say the most helpful thing with these mid/rear engine cars is having my scissor lift. Best purchase ever.

oil filter tool, preferably the hill engineering one as it's 1 solid piece instead of a multi piece design with spot welds that will break off.

Haha. I’m handy but don’t think I’m that handy to start fabricating!
My main forte lies around maintenance, fluid changes, belt changes, brake jobs , component replacement.
I really need to get smart on how to use computers on cars other than my OBDII scanner.

My next (expensive) tool is going to be a metal lathe and vertical mill. I saw this set and think it could be a good start:

    https://www.sherline.com/product/6280-dro/

I want a metal lathe to make small custom fittings and fasteners for various projects I'm working on. I've never had a lathe before, nor a mill so I am just going by what I've read. I'm usually pretty successful at first time things if I have decent equipment and some sort of guide.

What small lathe and mill setup would be reasonable?

A mill and a lathe will make you one happy guy for sure. I bought both of mine used. I looked for the old professional used stuff which nowadays IMO is far better than the junk they sell new for consumers.

I paid about $3500 for both. Both are OLD imports from Asian countries-- But were made when these companies were vying for a decent market share and were pretty high quality at the time (in the 70's).
Search the web for equipment sellers near you. Truly worth the trouble. And the good thing is most come with significant tooling which can break the bank if you have to buy it all piecemeal.

    Good luck, Ken

Portable impact tools, drills, ratchets, all sizes
    Cut off tools, grinders, hammers
    Mig welder
    Press
    X431 Pro Mini

You will need more, but that will get you started

Luckily I have most of that already minus the lift/scissor jacks, Welder, hex head sockets, and launch x431.

some wheel stud guides are first on the list and scissor jacks as I don’t have room for a lift.

I just finished putting in this lift:

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

This is a Mohawk System 1A-10. It's a 10,000 lb. lift that fits under the 10' ceiling in my garage. It's actually made in the USA. Took months to order one. I installed it by myself. Had to rent a forklift to get it off the truck.

I find that working on 360 and later cars requires removal of the very large bottom panels which is very difficult to do without a lift. You can, but it is just not very fun at all.

Oh, you need 60 gallon tank of air for air tools and cut off tools, and some painting.

An 80x120 shop, heated and insulated
All brand new snap on tools
    A Leonardo
    A bunch of lifts
    A 360trev
    A mill
    My own private test track
    A lathe
A fully stocked bar with a topless bartender
    A bigger budget

Realistically I'd be happy with a 4 post lift and an SD2 or something similar.

Lots of good recommendations in this thread. I like the way imahorse thinks. Especially the bar. I like my four post lift with Quickjacks. Gives me options.

Good suggestions here. To me the lift is essential. Makes every job so much easier. I’d also add a workshop manual to the list. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Not necessarily a tool, but I wish I had a larger garage to work in when I wrench.

Other than that, I have most the tools I need but something that can properly read/adapt/diagnose my F1 trans would be nice.
