Umm... wouldnt you have better luck selling it to the owner of the car? Cant imagine anyone would pay as much as they would to have it back.

Just out of curiosity, why on Earth would this be parted from the car to which it belongs?

Not the best resolution picture to tell. Looks similar to a real 250 GTO steering wheel apart from the hole for the horn looks to my eye to be a little wide but I'm probably wrong about that.

Was apparently for sale on Ebay last year for $985,000. See here.

Is is allowable public information to inform us who the reliable source confirmed this steering wheel is authentic to 3851GT?

Great story. $1M can buy you a very nice steering wheel often times still attached to an equally nice Ferrari. Have you tried contacting Bonhams to see if they will broker a sale to the owner of the car?

For reference only. It's "quite possible/probable" that this is the wheel from 3851, according to someone who should know. I asked another GTO owner. He also told the story of finding the original wheel from his car, and buying it, for . . . $15,000. It needed restoring, so add that to his final cost and it was maybe 15 years ago. His reaction to the asking price on this is not printable here, but he was, let's say, surprised by it.

Although I doubt he'd let his steering wheel go for $1MM or any number, unless it was attached to the car, and that would take a couple more zeros on that price.

I understand where this owner is coming from but to give an idea we refused a 200K offer from a reseller..

sounds like a poor decision. But let’s revisit in a few years and see if you’ve sold it or not.

I love seeing cars reunited with their OEM belongings.

Oh, I completely understand. I am not begrudging you your asking price, simply reporting what a very knowledgeable owner remarked about it. And, there's a lot of room between $200,000 USD and a million Euros.

If you get your price, all the better for you, and I wish you good luck.

Can you tell us something of how you came to own this item? Is it now in Ireland? There has to be an interesting story here somewhere.

We’d provide all the sources to a buyer (& advisors) to confirm authenticity of the item. They are a video of M.Negri telling its story. He’s passed away since but his daughter can vouch for him, the owner of the Borrani wheel..all people, locations, docs are in the Rhône-Alps region of France.

Thank you for your interest. Its story is there already in the thread. I’m in Ireland with my Irish wife but my father is based in Rhône-Alps in France. All the people involved are from the same region and have known each other for years. Thanks again, a-

Gisele, Henri Oreiller’s widow kept it (as a souvenir?) before the car was sold & sent back to Italy.
