Are artificial wet races a good idea to improve F1 excitement?

F1 is a sport, not entertainment. Artificial wet races is a slippery slope, no pun intended.
BTW, according to CL it wasn't the rain but the low grip tarmac in the run off area that caused his crash.

There should be no tarmac in run off areas, IMO, only grass and gravel.

 

Wet races have been the most fun to watch, but an easier way to accomplish the same chaos is to line up on the grid in reverse winning order from the previous race. Or reverse order of points scored (award 1 point for finishing in 20th place and reformulate scoring scale so each car gets a score each race. Simple?

 

I would go for that, but the idea would probably be turned down.

 

Anything "artificial" makes it a no go.

Aero and tyre changes are the more obvious choices.

 

In my point of view, it would be interesting to have irrigators at 4 or 5 different points of the track and turn on only 1 of them randomly every 5 or 10 minutes, so that only small and different sectors of the track are wet at different moments.

Wet race = guaranteed excitement, as is shown today again.

So I'm still in favor of starting with a wet race (by sprinklers) and let it dry by itself after 30 laps.

At least we can try this in one of the 20+ tracks.

 

Totally agree. I have been saying this for years. We need sprinklers.

You know that the remaining races on the calendar will be nothing but procession races. No chance of rain anymore and like three more Hamilton start-to-finish wins.
