Given the current status of Fry's, I wonder if maybe they have a really nicely decked out Cessna 172 these days :D:D

I saw a video yesterday of the Embraer 1000E VIP jet that apparently has been out for a few years. Has 3 bathrooms! There's a cool option of a full window, too. Seems like a big airplane compared to the Global Express and G series jets so not sure how it can get in and out of smaller airports compared to those. That's the major benefit of the smaller jets.

Wow that's crazy! Any idea who it belongs to? There are two other 747-8 BBJs in that article shown in photos. One is the Qatar royal family (tail # A7-HBJ) and the other is the Brunei royal family (tail # V8-BKH).

There was a Fed Auction three years ago with a Sabre business Jet — maybe pay <$200k.

local jet center said— fast jet but more of a military style so very little storage and each jet overhaul when the time came IIRC was $800k. Can’t handle that.

These plus the 2 for the United States. HZ-HMS1 was for Prince Sultan al Saud but he died before the interior was ever started.

Don't get too excited over this rendering. That is a fantasy window solution.

The marketing nme for the Embraer 1000E in VIP is lineage. Very limited sales. It looks like the Airbus 220 (formerly Bombardier C Series) may have some success in VIP. There is a multi-aircraft conversion contract between Comlu in Indianapolis and Airbus.

6,500 ft (sea level) will handle a BBJ1 at max gross weight. That means most airports are OK. Teterboro is not usable because of a political max weight restriction - otherwise the airport is fully capable for the Boeing/Airbus.

The 2 at L3 in Waco were utter disasters. Late by counting in years. Astronomical losses for L3 on each aircraft. Mismanagement of each project by L3 up and down the ranks. I watched some of it happening on each aircraft (for some o the time I was with a vendor to each project and during part of that spent about 3 months on-site in Waco) and it was an embarrassment for the VIP outfitting industry.

    Rob,

On your list of fastest, the G650 is faster than the Citation X by a tiny bit using Mach numbers.

And the Global 8000 is still a pipe dream for Bombardier. It is the short body, longer range iteration of the 7500 that they stopped work on but, last I remember, continue to claim it is not cancelled but not being worked on either.

ahh, thank you for update. some conflicting info and I was looking for max, which then could differ from regular cruise and max cruise.

For jets use Mach number for all the comparisons. I would also tend to use High Speed Cruise instead of MMO as the reference as it is something far more real.

But, do take a look at the range at High Speed versus Long Range Cruise on the G650 and Citation X to understand just how inefficient that extra speed is. From memory, the G650 loses over 1,000 nm at High Speed. Remember a story shortly after the early G650s were in service of an owner having his crew do a long US-Asia flight at high speed - required a fuel stop to do the mission that at LRC would not have been necessary. Boss knew it but still wanted to see the big Mach number even though the overall flight took just as long or longer.

We had guys in the Columbia Club that would do 1,500-2,000 trips non-stop LOP just barely going 140-150 kts that would beat time wise the 1-stopers higher power.

You just need to be a TV Preacher, I had the chance to see Ken Copelands at his private airport. That was my 400 in front.

My one and only private jet experience was in a CitationX. Providence, RI to DFW. My employer had 4 of them at the time, one for each division President, another for the CEO. I have pictures somewhere.

Comfortable for sure. Adequate headroom standing up. And it was smooth and quiet, too.
