Robb, My current lenses for my Nikon D700 are the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f3.5-5.6G ED VR and the Nikon 105mm f2.8 G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor. I use the Micro-Nikkor in the OR. One day soon I'd like to get a dedicated portrait lens. It will be either the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G or the Nikon AF S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G. For the time being, I set my zoom lens to ~85mm for portrait shots. Barry
The 58 1.4 is very nice. I also like nikon’s 85 1.4 and the very large 105 1.4 but they are pricey. For tools of working professionals, can’t be without them. Robb
My 105 mm 2.8 Micro is my working lens, Robb. I would like the Nikkor 85 mm 1.4 but it's very expensive, more expensive than my Micro Nikkor. The Nikkor 85 mm 1.8 is a reasonably-priced alternative. My D700 appears to be a very much sought after camera these days. I've had mine since it was first introduced. Barry
Years ago when I was using my Nikon F2SB, the Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f4 was my working lens... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The good ol' days, Robb! Barry
Couldn’t stop laughing at this avatar from another mod so I’ve also made it mine for the week. Hope it makes you all laugh as well. Robb

Almost ready for the drop 4 hrs in. I guess it speeds things up with extra hands. early car with the large under tray and slight other differences. Blue 355 has two piece. Robb Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So 5 and 1/2 hours after we started. With about an hour out of that to watch f1 quali over lunch. Every owner should try to go through this. I actually like the modular design so now we can access everything easily... so to all the 355 YouTube naysayers... I say - hold our beer. Robb I’m jealous! I enjoy the engine out process! So good to have the setup to do it at home. I have everything I need to do it now easily too. I just have to build the engine dolly will make the process even easier.
I look forward to the “after photos.” It’s currently a bit messy. We’ll be making it correct and of course pretty. Robb Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great stuff. Always so rewarding to get your hands dirty on your own car. Please keep the pics coming. I've done this on my 911's and look forward to twisting wrenches on the 355. For now I'll do it vicariously.
Awesome stuff Robb! When ordering parts make sure they know it's a super early spec car (Daniel @ Ricambi knows all about these and the differences). It really isn't bad if you take your time and go through everything methodically. Good luck, anxious to see the progress pics!
CopterJon came over to visit to bring rear casters to borrow while we are making progress on the other Jon’s F355 the 348 spiders are the prettiest... Robb Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the road last weekend with my kid graduating college so Jon and my brother continued work on the red 95 B. Headers were removed and will be replaced with Tubi units because of signs of metal fatigue. Ordered many more parts now that we are in there with a better sense so will be waiting a bit on shipping... Might I suggest dry blast cleaning the whole engine compartment as well as the engine while you have it out, if you have someone locally to do it for you. The results are phenomenal...car will look like it rolled out of the factory!
