Does anyone have any info Pre 1998 in the UK on ZFFPA16B000057233? I have its history post 98 but looking to fill some gaps. Believe it came to the UK in 1994 but would also be keen to hear when it left Italy. Thanks!

Let's say a mans wins the lotto and wants to buy his childhood (and still) dream car.

How difficult is it to acquire one of these?

    Asking for a friend......

Looks like the black car has the red line running against the side again, that makes me happy.

    I haven't checked in a while but I'd say
$2.0m is probably bottom for a higher mile car while low mileage, low owner cars will be close to or above $3.0m

    Correct, $2m - $3m is a realistic range.

Just trying to fully appreciate and understand this car being offered. Regardless for whom, by whom and how much was spent, this black 288 is post modified, correct? This isn’t some new factory discovery? Whether the story of the car’s provenance warrants special intrigue/value or not, it was purchased, repainted and significantly altered from left to right hand drive, by Pininfarina, not the factory, correct?

Yes. Extensive discussion about this has been done in this thread and forum. Brunei cars went to Pininfarina for RHD conversions and paint almost immediately after leaving the factory.

Got it. Personally, I’d much prefer a pure and unmolested 288 GTO, as the factory intended. I couldn’t care less if it was owned by the Brunei royal family, particularly given what they did to it.

I'm not the world's expert on the Brunei GTOs, but IIRC they were a few years old when Pininfarina modified them.

There was some discussion I remember when the grey F40 was briefly returned to the original rosso spec. Brunei-escapees are special in their own right

This Pininfarina-style rendering made for the dark blue RHD GTO supplied to the Sultan of Brunei is marked 1994, @ 8 years after GTO production was completed.

56655 with engine #00198, now "Indian Blue with a red stripe", had three individual Italian owners from April 1985 until 1993, prior to being sold again and converted by Pininfarina to RHD and repainted.

Makes sense, so the Brunei GTOs were essentially used cars that were purchased and converted.

Interesting. Either they really just wanted to spend money and buy anything and everything or they really liked it. I didn't know they ever bought used cars.

Brunei got a used genuine 365 GTB/4 Spider (Daytona Spider) which was modified by Pininfarina with automatic power soft top, fuel injection and other "goodies".

    Ferrari Daytona Spyder RHD #14371
    https://talacrest.com/Talacrest-Social-News/Ferrari-Daytona-Spyder-RHD-14371/189.htm

This was a Ferrari Daytona Spyder RHD #14371. 1 of 7 RHD Spyders - the car had covered a mere 9000 miles and we sold it to the Royal Garage of Brunei for £1m in 1989. The car was then converted by Pininfarina with automatic power soft top and fuel injection.
