    Hi All,
Hope to get some answers to a few questions.
Rebuilding the gearbox of my 83 Mondial QV, and wondering if I can get confirmation of the ring nut threads per my attached photos.
Also I cannot seem to get two gears to mesh at the same time, therby locking the main ,and lay shaft for ring nut removal, so any thoughts?
Also looking for any advice on the removal, inspection, what to replace, and installation of the gear sets.
    Thanks for your input.
    Regards
    Jeff

Your thread direction labels match the handwritten notes written in my 161/78 308B/S SPC by a F mechanic that I trust (and they diabolically mixed things up in the SPC itself by mislabeling the item numbers on TAV. 27 - 14 and 15 should be swapped. Don't know if they corrected that error in later V8 SPC or if the error just kept propagating).

Can't you just engage one of the gears and then put something like a big lump of leather into the meshing teeth to prevent rotation (with the bearing retaining plate back in place)? I.e., place the leather such that it is being drawn into meshing teeth as you are turning the ring nut in the direction to remove it.
