So 2 rookie drivers with HAAS for 2021......Mick and Mazepin. Mick will train during FP.

Russell will drive the W11 for Lewis (has COVID-19). Aitken will drive in Russells place for Williams. He will be number 89 (karting #).

Perez has been offered a Reserve driver role for Ferrari in 2021.

Is there an overlay or comparison view of the track this week compared to last week's route, showing which bits have been changed and which remain the same?

    https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/153904/fia-to-allow-alonso-to-take-part-in-abu-dhabi-test

Fernando Alonso is set to continue his preparations to return to Formula 1 with Renault by taking part in the post-Abu Dhabi Grand Prix young driver test.

The door has been opened for the former world champion to take part by an FIA decision that has left some rival teams fuming, as they believe that the Enstone team will gain a clear advantage by running its future driver.

The Abu Dhabi test was originally supposed to be for 18-inch tyre mule cars, with all teams involved as part of their preparations for 2021.

However with the rule changes and the introduction of the new tyres postponed until 2022, it subsequently morphed into a young driver test, with up to two cars per team.

Some teams wanted the test to be cancelled as a cost saving measure as the pandemic began to hit, but all eventually agreed to allow rookie running, in part to help those who derive income from selling seat time.

With a lap that short, there will be a lot of congestion, especially in session Q1. And there will be a lot of lapping in the race itself. It will look like blue flag city!

A bit reminiscent of Reims(in miniature). Tracing Points should excel at this circuit, I expect a top three finish for Perez. Inexperienced rookies, an unfamiliar track and safety cars are the wild cards.

FIA has started the accident investigation process. All the elements will be analyzed: driver equipment, circuit, car. Data from the ADR, Haas and F1 will be collected. The process will be managed by the SASG and RWA. The investigation will take from 6 to 8 weeks.

Very good analogy, would be nice to ask one of the few still with us, such as Tony Brooks for comments but of course the cars could not be more different.

Who would have thought conveyer belt manufacturers would have evolved into F1 safety equipment providers. Next time I see a conveyer belt at the grocery store or airport, I will feel confident my groceries and baggage will protect them from a 53G shunt :)
