I think I'm going to have it shipped, so sometime in the next two weeks, I hope. If it was warmer out, I'd fly and drive. It's only 8 hours.

I decided to stop looking for the right color and start looking for a good car. I like that this one has only had two owners before me and seems to have been well cared for.

We changed our minds. We're going to drive to Milwaukee tomorrow and pick the car up Thursday morning, if all goes according to plan. Then drive home Thursday. That way, we'll have a chase car if something goes badly wrong. My husband pointed out that if we wait two weeks for a transport company to bring it to us, there might be salt on the roads and I won't get to drive it at all until spring.

I know you have been looking for a while. I looked at a lot of car before I bought mine, in a variety of colors: Red, Black, Rosso Fiorano, Rosso Barchetta, Verde Silverstone, Swaters blue. After seeing a Swaters Blue/tan car I decided that was what I wanted. Took 3 years to find the right one. But, as long as you are happy, you made a good choice. Spiders rule!!! Nothing like the wind in you hair on a nice sunny day. And you know what they say, a GTS is for someone who is indecisive and coupes are for chickens. :)

What is it with Americans and chicken "couples"? :) I just can not imaging buying a car like a 355 and spending a beautiful day all "couped up" away for the fresh air, sun and sound of a 355 engine behind you. I guess you guys don't like topless beaches either. :D

I hate driving in the sun these days. Much more comfortable with a roof. Also like the structural integrity.

when I was 25, I loved convertibles. Been there done that.

As someone who has taken to spending weeks at a time in New Orleans several times a year, how in the actual hell do you own a nice car there? For umm "reasons" I've taken to keeping tabs on the real estate market in town, and there is almost nothing with a garage available between Chalmette and Metarie for blood or money. And the roads are utter crap.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE that old painted lady of a city, and if I don't end up retiring to my place in Costa Rica in a couple of years, it'll be to New Orleans. But I'd much rather have my 3/4 ton Silverado there than my Spider. Beyond the just being able to *have* such a bella macchina, how would you even drive it around?

In NOLA you just have to plan routes and drive them in advance in a normal car. You also have to be mindful of potential flooding events which can spawn from heavy showers. Locals know exactly where the problem spots exist. And while not the ideal, one can easily drive 20-30m out of the city for some quasi-decent jaunts.
