It's so well engineered ...

Mine has one of these to hold the door closed and it's a devil to get bottom lip of the door in the grove and then get the fastener turned so that it's closed.

My master cutoff switch was mounted in that door too. Nice to have but the extra cable interferes with getting the door firmly in place. Thank god I had one though. Once the starter solenoid stuck on and I had to quickly pop it in neutral and turn the key off until I could get to the main cutoff switch. I was at a gas station a block from my house. The tow truck driver looked at me like I had two heads, a flatbed tow for 1 block ... You see I would have had to have push the car across one of the busiest roads in SF and I wasn't about to risk that.

I use a thick rubber mat instead. Never a problem!

My Bora just went live on Bring a Trailer
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-maserati-bora-4/

Would appreciate comments from Bora owners on BaT as many people that frequent BaT have never seen, less driven, a Bora. No need to make comments about my car (unless is it preceded by "fantastic" :) ) since I realize that most of you have never seen it in person.

BaT has traditionally not been kind to Maseratis so I do not have high expectations. Hopefully my Bora will help change people's perception of vintage Maseratis.

I have, I even rode in it once. Many a moon ago ...
To me it's the color combination that makes this car.
What is something of a shame is that each owner drove it so little. I think you're at least the 6th owner if you include Steve Claussen.
Good luck. It goes to Europe?

    Ivan,

You may recall, i mentioned to you when you came to Australia that the photos of your car were used as the example for my restorer to follow especially for shunt lines which are perfect on your car..Other photos were referred to on many occasions during the build,
    Good luck with the sale.

    Hi Greg,

You have the nicest restored Bora I have seen. As they came out of the factory these cars had some rough edges which you and your restorer were able to correct, and the results show.

The BaT auction is getting a lot of positive comments and has introduced the Bora to people that either did not know much about these cars or had dismissed Maserati as less than Ferrari and Lamborghini. Of course, positive comments do not necessarily translate to actual bids therefore someone may be buying a really nice Bora for less than a Jaguar e-type.

Already now at 95k with still 7 days to run.
It should continue climbing, hopefully at a deserved good price, no less than an E-Type (I guess you put a reserve price)
    Good sale!

A couple of people on the BAT website don't understand the difference between being exotic and erotic. :p

Nice sale by Ivan of his gold very original example just now, well done. I still don't think BAT is the right venue for these cars, too specialized but I must admit that BAT are getting better. Their rule of adding two minutes to auction closing time when someone bids at the last moment is very smart, prevents last second surprises and stimulates bidders: viagra methodology:) It was a good price under the Covid and economic circumstances but such a car should be worth high 200's easily. Still it shows the market is far from moribund: good for our hobby and passion.

Boras have always been far too much of a bargain here. There are lots of historical reasons for that. I wonder if this one going to Europe where they are better appreciated in spite of the dreaded bumper carbuncles ...

These really aren't similar cars other than the color and the fact that they're both mid engined plus quite exotic. This was also two years ago so I don't know what the car is worth now but this is how it's gone with Ferrari vs Maserati for the last 30 years.

There's a boxer on the drive tribe website

    https://**********.com/p/this-unique-1977-ferrari-512-berlinetta-LAn66HjCScq8enDUjHrcyQ?iid=f1blKijxThG_wyFr5-Xx0A

I don't see that ever changing for the more run of the mill GT cars. Thirty years is a long established pattern. A good thing for the less well heeled enthusiasts.

What is the percieved difference in price between a EU car vs a US ca? Everything else the same?

According to some here a US car can never be of the same value as EU spec car regardless of how perfected converted it is. But even a EU spec car residing in the USA is probably worth less than if it is residing in Europe.
Americans just don't clamor for them like they do over there. Ditto khamsins, which is why there are so few Khamsins left here. Et Tu Bora ... I expect so.

So you have three different pricing scenarios for two different versions of the Bora not just two IMHO.

They only get dragged north of embarrassing when they are still a bargain compared to all the other ones. Race cars and truly rare one offs excepted.
